The panel chart provides information on the research data on why 100,000 UK residents traveled abroad

between 1994 and 1998, and the second chart illustrates the countries they visited during that period
this time.

Overall, holiday and business are the two most chosen data and are trending up. Western Europe is the
most popular destination for visitors

As can be seen that Western Europe is much more selective than other places. In 1994, just under
20,000 UK citizens went to Western Europe, compared with just under 1,000 to North America.
Furthermore, after a slight decline in 1995, the Western European visitor population has increased
significantly and peaked at 24,519 in 1998—a much more substantial figure than the other two datas.

British people tend to travel to other countries more from 1994 to 1998. Compared to going abroad to
work, visit relatives or other reasons, going abroad to have fun and enjoy more chief. In the second year,
the total number of tourists decreased slightly from only about 21,000. However, it increased and
peaked at around 29,000 in 1998, and travel for pleasure also peaked around this time.
