Suggested Activities for the Month of September:

(in relation to School’s Core Values)

1. Manifesto Writing What To Do:
(For Teachers-in-Charge)
Create a handout with some engaging
questions in relation to our core values.

Examples include:
 How can one achieve excellence?
 Which of the core values that we have
do you mostly apply in virtual classes?
Why?

HOW:
1. Split the participants into groups and show
each the list of questions.
2. Let them work for 15-20 minutes in
answering the questions provided. As they
progress, they will discover core themes – or
values – that we want them to learn. Ask them
to write these down.
3. These key values will be the basis for their
groups’ manifestos. Once they have listed the
values they discovered, let them share it with
other groups. Do you all identify any similar
themes? The guiding question here is: Which
of these values are most important to you as a
group?
4. Give them another 15-20 minutes to discuss
on the following questions to be able to design
and create their manifesto:
 What actions line up with those core
values?
 What can you do to live or embody
those values? And finally,
 Which are you willing to commit to?
After this exercise, each group will have a
manifesto of value-driven actions that they
are willing to commit to collectively. Examples
might include “Be curious, open-minded, and
inquisitive,” or “Turn ‘problems’ into
‘opportunities’.”
2. Values In Action Brainstorming What To Do:
(For Teachers-in-Charge)
Prepare some Values Cards – these are simply
blank cards with the school’s core values
written on it.
HOW:
1. Split the participants into groups and show
them the cards with the values written on
them.
2. Have some representative from each group
tell a story about a similar
experience/problem to which they can relate
the core value presented.
3. Representative from a different group will
then offer a practical solution that is based on
that value.

To perform well on this exercise, each group

needs to work together and discuss realistic
solutions, while considering how values might
be integrated into everyday actions.
3. Clarifying My Values Provide an activity where students weigh the
core values in relation to family, school and
community.
Ask them to write a reflection paper
answering the following questions:
1. Are there situations where you feel you are
acting inconsistently with your values? Why?
Is there anything you can do to get back in
alignment with your values?
2. Are there areas of your life where you feel
you are not able to fully live by your values?
Why? Is there anything you can do to change
this?
3. Think of a challenging situation in your life.
How can those core values guide you through
this situation?
4. Value Exploration HOW:
Have the participants prepare a piece of
paper, put number 1-5 on it and follow the
instructions below:

1. Ask each individual to write down a physical

object, product, or item they feel they need in
order to function on a daily basis.
2. Ask each individual to write down a
geographical location that is especially
important to them.
3. Ask each individual to write persons who
have made them who they are today. This
prompt could have a positive, negative, or
mixed valence to it.
4. Ask each individual to write down their
personal or professional goals that they have
for themselves (both short- and long-term
timelines are acceptable). Have each person
share 1-2 to goals they wrote down and a brief
explanation as to why they chose those
particular goals.
5. Ask each individual to write down two
significant memories that they always want to
remember.

Let them have some individual reflection on

what they have written.
Number Elimination: The students will be
asked to eliminate a certain number based on
conditions presented until only one is left.
Value Identification: Let them identify which
core value is reflected on the last piece of
number left in them.
5. Movie Reflection Prepare a movie for the students to watch and
ask them to make a reflection paper
containing the core values they can
incorporate in the movie.
