FRONT VOWEL SOUNDS

Taking into account the studied Front Vowel sounds do the following activities.

1. Underline the vowels that contain the studied Front Vowels, transcribe the vowels sounds you already
know in the words, and pronounce. Then circle the word in each group that does not contain the [i:]
sound.
Transcription: [ i: ] [ i: ] [I] [ i: ]

2. Complete each of the following sentences with a phrase or word that rhymes with the boldfaced words
which contain the [ I ] vowel sound. Underline, transcribe the vowels you know, and pronounce.
Look at the example:
Transcription: [aɪ] [ ɪ ] [ ɪ ]

3. Circle the words that contain the diphthong sound [ eɪ ], transcribe the vowels sounds you know in the
same order you found them in the right part of the page (or an extra piece of paper). Pronounce.
Transcription:

[ eɪ ]
3. Newspaper 2
[ eɪ ]
4. May

4. Underline, transcribe the vowel sounds you know, pronounce, and circle the one that does not contain
the [Ɛ] sound.
Transcription: [ ɛ ] [ ɪ ] [ ɛ ][ ɪ ] [ iː ][ ɪ ] [ɛ]

5. Complete the sentences, circle the word than contains the [æ] sound, and underline and transcribe all
the Front Vowels you know. Then, pronounce. (Use an extra piece of paper if necessary)
EXAMPLE
Transcription: [ æ] [ɛ]
