1. Draw a typical Value Stream Map (VSM) for a chosen production environment and
Explain. (5)
2. Differentiate between analytical estimating and work sampling for std. time
computation. (5)
3. Continuous stop watch time study figures for a job are given below. The job
consists of 4 work elements and ten observations (in minutes) were made.
Calculate std. time for the various work elements assuming that the sample size is
adequate, and the total allowances are 12% of std. time. (10)

4. In a production shop work sampling study has been conducted for 320 hours in
order toestimate the std. time of a job. Total numbers of observation recorded
were 3500. Therewere 2400 no. of working activities. Ratio between manual to
machine element was 3:1. Avg. rating factor was 1.3 and total no. of jobs produced
during the study was 5000. The various allowances considered are rest and personal
allowances: 2% of Normal time, contingency allowance: 5% of Normal time, Policy
allowance: 8% of Normal time. But there will be a common policy in the
organization to allow the allowances with maximum of 12% of Normal time.
Compute the std. time per job in order to estimate the production cost. (10)
