Module objectives
To equip students with the knowledge of:
• Protecting themselves (workers) from the hazards of chemicals

• Preventing or reducing the incidence of chemically induced


illnesses and injuries resulting from the use of chemicals at work,
and consequently

• enhancing the protection of the general public and the


environment.

• sustainable management of hazardous chemicals in the chemical


industry

Module Outcomes
At the end of this module, students should be able to:

1. Define, in their own words, what an hazardous chemicals are.

2. Define other terminologies relating to industrial safety.

3. Know the key duties of both employers and employees in ensuring


prevention of accidents relating to chemical handling.

- identifying the hazards posed by these chemicals

- assessing the risk from chemicals or processes in workplaces, and
