The Humble "Salt" For Pots: High Dietary Salt Intake in Patients With Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome

A study examined the effects of high versus low sodium diets on patients with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). The study found that compared to a low sodium (10 mEq/day) diet, a high sodium (300 mEq/day) diet for one week in POTS patients led to an increase in plasma volume and a decrease in standing norepinephrine levels and heart rate increase upon standing.
