DA20 Freezer / Fridge Door Alarm with Adjustable Delay
Installation Instructions
The DA20 needs to be installed on the edge of the freezer or fridge where the
door opens, not the hinge side. Usually the best place is on the side at the top.
STEP 1: Once you decide where you will mount the DA20, clean the surface of the door and side of the freezer or fridge where
the unit will be located. Make sure the surfaces are clean and dry before proceeding to step 2.
STEP 2: Remove the protective paper backing from the adhesive on the bottom of the magnet.
Be careful not to let the adhesive surface touch anything. Leave the paper on the main unit
until you have found the best position in step 4.
STEP 3: Carefully stick the magnet on the door of the freezer or fridge as close to the inside edge of the door
as possible. Keep in mind that the DA20 main unit needs to be located close to the magnet.

battery cover, remove the old battery and replace it with a fresh 9 volt alkaline battery. Place the
battery inside the unit then replace the cover. NOTE: The unit comes with a battery installed.
Delay Adjustment: The DA20 has an adjustable timing delay which can be set between 0 seconds and

21 minutes and 15 seconds. The unit comes factory set for 5 seconds. If you wish to change the timing,

Timing Step 2: Remove the battery from the compartment for easy access to the dip switches.

Timing Step 3: Using the mini screwdriver provided, flip the switches to provide the length of delay
that you desire. Each switch flipped to ON will add those times to the total delay. For example, with
switch 1 and 2 on, but the other time switches off, the total delay is 15 seconds. With 1, 2, and 7 on, the
ASI
total delay is 2 minutes and 55 seconds. With all time switches set to on, the delay is 21 minutes and 15
seconds to be exact. ON

DA20 Freezer / Fridge Door Alarm with Adjustable Delay
Installation Instructions
Operation:
After you have completed all the steps of the installation, you can test the device as follows (factory defaults).
A) Open the door and keep it open. You should hear a short beep when you first open it.
B) After it has been open for your selected time delay, you should hear a pulsing beep.
C) The pulsing beep will continue until you close the door.
If the beeping doesn't stop when you close the door, you have probably mounted the main unit too far away from the magnet. When
you open the door, a "chirp" indicates that the battery is OK. If the chirp becomes higher in pitch, or the low battery warning
activates, then the battery needs to be replaced.

LED OFF or ON: In addition to the chirp, there is an LED that lights up when the door is opened, Delay 5:20 min 7

which also informs that the unit is operating and that the battery is working. When the alarm goes off, Delay 10:40 min 8

Buzzer On/Mute 12
Systems Inc.
BUZZER BEEP or SOLID: The DA20 has the ability to make a pulsing “beep” or a solid tone. When the (Siren Soft/Loud)

dip switch is in the off position it emits the beep, and when in the on position it emits the solid tone.
BUZZER ON or MUTE: In its standard form, without the DA20 Siren accessory, the final dip switch
ASI
option allows for the alarm to be muted. When muted, the buzzer makes no sound after the delay
timer ends. The LED continues to function as normal, providing a visual cue, and the initial chirp is
made (depending on whether that feature is turned on or off ). When the dip switch is in the off
position the buzzer works as normal, and when in the on position it activates the mute function. ON
With the DA20 Siren accessory - SIREN SOFT or LOUD: The DA20 offers a siren accessory for locations
with loud ambient noises (industrial, warehouses, etc...). When connected, the siren replaces the
internal buzzer alarm, and changes the function of the final dip switch. Instead of muting the buzzer,
it offers a softer volume or a louder volume option from the siren accessory. Factory default is off
(softer).
DA20 Accessories:
The DA20 is a standalone unit, but it offers two accessories to increase its effective uses. For more information, refer to the
webpage, or contact us for unique customization requests.
DA20 Siren: This external siren provides extra volume for those requiring it. Using the siren with the standard battery power is
perfectly fine, but be aware that it increases the drain on the battery. The siren provides 86db @ 1m (3 feet) in the SIREN SOFT setting,
with 95db @ 1m (3 feet) in the SIREN LOUD setting. Note: Every 3db represents a doubling in volume.
DA20 Power Supply (North American/Universal): The power supply accessory allows for the use of
the DA20 without the need for batteries. It’s mostly used in situations where the DA20 Siren has been Model DA20
