WHAT’S NEW
1. Where did the story happen?

The story happened in the house of the main character’s aunt.

2. Who were the characters in the story?

The characters in the story were Liza, her Tita Loleng, her father,
Sylvia, her sister, Meg; her mother and her half-brother Lem.

3. What do you think led to the emotional separation of Liza from her
father?

I believe that the reason of Liza’s emotional separation from her

father was because of his attitude towards her mother that made her
think of conclusions that must have been about an affair. In the
story, she stated that she was a daddy’s girl. This is also a reason
why the separation was a horrid one especially because of her father’s
mistakes.

4. What was the most interesting part of the story?

The most interesting part of the story in my perspective is on where

Liza narrated what happened during the funeral. I also found the part
amusing when her step mother, Sylvia talked to her and cried in front
of her and she even stated that “Everyone makes mistakes”, making it
utterly subjective for Sylvia’s part that made me feel upset with the
thought of her selfish words.

5. What was the story about?

The story was about a girl’s narration of her experience of her

father’s mistakes which was connected to a funeral of her step brother.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED

1. What significant lesson have you learned from the story? How will
you apply it in your own life?

The lesson that I have learned from the story was the awareness of
man’s temporary feelings. Even before, people are so attracted and
infatuated with the thought of loving someone else especially when
they are no longer seem to be excited with their present partners
resulting to my conclusion of the lesson in the story of man’s
temporary and idle feelings. All couples, may it be men or women,
because of the misplaced feelings there is a possibility for people
to find, explore and unleash the negative effects of being lost between
the walls of the relationship. As a woman, I can apply the lesson to
myself on being faithful and stay my ground as I have promised to the
Lord. Committing to an affair is like breaking the commandments of
the lord, I would rather file an annulment than find the lost feeling
from my partner but in other cases, sides must be taken before judging
another because we are human in nature and it is natural to long and
desire something that has been lost but must acquire communication
with the other.
2. Why do you think some married men commit extramarital affair?

I strongly believe that men commit extramarital affairs because of

the feelings and attractions that have been lost from their partners
before. Men in nature are woman predators, making the other party fall
for them leading to an affair that was not meant to happen. Women who
age, fail in being physically or maturely active in the relationship
with men are most likely to be upset or long about something they
cannot eradicated. Some men are different though, men who are strongly
faithful and only see their wives as the most beautiful woman in their
eyes are the ones who are in love and do not think of having an affair.

3. React on this: It is ordinary in our culture for husbands to commit

adultery and look for another woman who can satisfy their desires
simply because they are men and not saints.

Humans are typically filled with emotions and make mistakes yet in
entering a relationship especially in marriage is a big mistake.
Committing adultery because of the lack of satisfaction of desires
from their partners is a delusional and humorous explanation of which.
From the start, men should have seen the future of them being in one
house everyday only staring at one woman on their whole life. Yes,
men are not saints, robots or anyone who can stay as still as the
unbreakable tree but once a strong tsunami or storm comes, it would
most likely fall but it does not mean they would find another soil to
grow unto because they have roots that can manage to grow again to a
stiffer and larger tree just like relationships, one can make a mistake
but once forgiven, a new beginning can happen but once it is not taken
care off, it withers and dies. That is why relationships are to be
nurtured and promised, it does not mean being someone capable of being
faithful cannot be shaken, it is how someone sees their partners as a
person who will be there every day and must see the beauty of
imperfections and flaws by both.
