Banal Na Aso Santong Kabayo, Isang Bandila, Payag

Three Filipino songs are analyzed for their influence on political self-development. The songs "Banal na Aso, Santong Kabayo", "Isang Bandila", and "Payag" convey messages about hypocrisy in leadership, unity among Filipinos, and the shallow nature of words from those in power. Listening multiple times allows realization of the true meanings and development of awareness of situations in the country. These songs influenced the writer's political self by teaching vigilance, distrust of strangers, and not judging others by appearances alone.

Banal na Aso Santong Kabayo, Isang Bandila, Payag

We know that all Filipinos love music and as a form of

communication, music has always been used to express personal
opinions. The three politic-related songs influence the development of
the political self of the listeners in a way that they realize the true
meaning of these songs. It becomes an open-eye to the listeners to know
what is the exact happening in our country. When they heard the songs
multiple times, they realize the true meaning of this, the exact message
that the song wanted to deliver to us and through that realizations, the
listeners become aware of this and the development of their political self
influence the way they think and communicate with other people. The
song “Banal na Aso, Santong Kabayo” is all about how people act like
they’re good and saintly while others are watching, but are actually
terrible people in real life. The second song entitled, “Isang Bandila” is
all about how we as Filipinos should unite and not succumb to crab
mentality. And the last song “Payag” by Gloc 9 was telling us that
whoever is in a higher position than ours, words are not complete,
shallow and not real. It is something that we need to wake up and
prepare for the next chance when we will choose our leaders again.
These three songs influence the development of my political self in a
way that I learned something that can affect the way I think and my
behavior in my life. Like for example I don’t judge other people based
on their physical aspect and also, I don’t easily trust other people that I
don’t know very well. I have many realizations in these songs and also
this song helps me to build my political self in a way that I need to be
observant and also to be more vigilant of what other people are capable
of doing.
