Directions: Ask help from your learning buddy to read to you
the story below. With his or her guide, answer the questions
that follow.
A Walk to the Farm

Kriiing! Kriiing!
The alarm ticks five as the twins Maria and Mario jumped
out of their bed to get ready for the day. It was Saturday and
they are going to the farm to help their mother prepare the food
of those who will harvest their palay.
Splash! Splash! Tiktilaok! Tiktilaok! Brooom! Brooom! As
they walk along the muddy road to their farm, they could hear
the rooster on top Aling Rosing’s bahay kubo, signaling dawn,
and the sound of Mang Ambo’s motorcycle as he prepares for
work in the neighboring town.
Woosh! Woosh! Tweet! Tweet!
A few meters away, they could hear the running water
from the nearby river, the rustling leaves as the wind blew, and
the chirping of birds from the branches of trees.
It was always the twins’ favorite time, listening to different
sounds, while walking to the farm.
