Chapter 3 Reflection
Chapter 3 Reflection
-. Effective communication is about more than just exchanging information. It’s about
understanding the emotion and intentions behind the information. As well as being able
to clearly convey a message, you need to also listen in a way that gains the full meaning
of what’s being said and makes the other person feel heard and understood. When
communicating with others, we often focus on what we should say. However, effective
communication is less about talking and more about listening. Listening well means not
just understanding the words or the information being communicated, but also
understanding the emotions the speaker is trying to convey.
- The greatest challenges to good communication is when you feel down and you don't have any
self-confidence to communicate with others. Lack of attention, interest, distractions, or
irrelevance to the receiver. You are lack in ideas so that you can't communicate in a good
condition and also a lack of feedback if communication moves in one direction only, discourse
will quickly become ineffective. Feedback is important on many levels. Not only does it help
determine how well your employees have met their goals, but it also shows how well they
collaborate with their teams, their co-workers, and their managers. Feedback also shows how
well employees handle stress and adversity. A lack of feedback can lead to demotivation and
slack work attitudes. Conversely, positive feedback can make work more fun, engaging people
and pushing positive development. But no matter whether feedback is good or bad, it is a
necessity.
- We must have daily practices or habits in order to assess effective communication. An example
of it is look people directly in the eye when speaking, always be reminded that eye contact is also
a good way of communicating and off course add a little smile for reassurance that you are not
trying to intimidate but rather trying to have a conversation. After conversing make sure to listen
to what they are saying without interruption and you can tell if their feedback is positive or not.
Has the development of the internet and social media caused a change in the way we
communicate (quality, quantity, style etc.)?
- Gestures and facial expressions are used to communicate. The transfer of messages
without the use of words is known as nonverbal communication. Physical movement,
such as hand gestures and body language, as well as facial expressions, such as eye
contact, frowning, and smiling, are used. People from both cultures had the similar facial
expressions for six “basic” emotions and could recognize them in others. Yes, because in
the internet and social media we used emoji’s that expresses ourselves and that can be a
source of miscommunication sometimes.
