PODCAST PROJECT
Genres, Artists and Technology
Miskin Music MIDI ROOM GROUP TASK
• You are to produce a podcast that will focus on a
specific year in pop music history.
• The podcast will be 8-10 minutes in length.
• Your group will research, plan, record and edit the
whole thing.
• The podcast and an evaluation of the process must be
presented on your Unit 1 Wix site. Your group will be given ONE year in pop music history to research.
From that year you will investigate
and present: • Genres of music • Prominent artists and producers • Technology (for both creating and consuming music) • Cultural and/or Political influences The podcast might also include:
• The number 1s of the year or
songs that defined the era • The fashion of the time • Musical/production styles or instruments particular to the time • How the music of the time influenced culture/society • Legacy or influence of the music from that year still heard today Research
• Independent and group research will be
necessary. • Consider primary (e.g. interviews) and non- internet based secondary research, alongside Google. • Keep notes of all sources (including websites) as these will be referenced. Planning
• Consider the different roles and
responsibilities each group member will undertake while making a podcast. • Decide a structure and give your podcast a title. • Consider how you might present it: as DJs on the radio; as a documentary; with comedic/story structure etc • Write a script or detailed plan. Music Stipulations
• Examples of music will be necessary for the podcast,
but clips longer than 15 seconds will require speaking over the top. The clips cannot be longer than 40 seconds in total. • You are encouraged to compose your own music, for the introduction or background. • The names of all tracks and their artists must be mentioned in the podcast. Presentation
• Your podcast must sound as professional as
possible, with any audio or music issues addressed. • Although not all groups members will want to ‘present’ the podcast, the final production must have equal input by all. • The podcast must not exceed 10 minutes. You may choose to create 3 or 4 mini episodes of 2/3 minutes. • The final podcast will be mixed and ‘bounced’ to mp3. Evaluation
• After the completion of your podcast you must
evaluate the process. When doing so, consider: • The planning (was there enough of it?) • Problem solving (how did you fix things?) • The final presentation (did it go to plan?) • The team (how well did you all work together?) This project is part of the Unit 1 brief.
The podcast, and evaluation of the process, must be
submitted by: 8th October
The podcast and evaluation will be uploaded to you
