Guidelines in Making Examinations
Guidelines in Making Examinations
1. The Budget of Work/SMG and DLL are the references when making the
examinations.
2. The subject teacher should make sure the students have their SMG. Also,
give them Pointers for Review at least one (1) week before the
scheduled examinations. The Pointers for Review should contain the
following:
Pages of the text book where lessons shall be taken
Topics covered
Additional sources you have given during the quarter, whenever
appropriate
Other topics discussed which may not be in the textbook
Optional: reflections and other tasks they need to do to help them
evaluate their learning (more like learning competencies that they
need to have developed during the quarter)
3. The teacher should return all books, notebooks in order for the
students to be able to study. Seatworks, quizzes and homework
included in the coverage should be returned to the students as well.
Therefore, the teacher should have recorded the said assessments in the
score sheet / grading sheet before returning to students.
4. Ideally the last subject meeting should be spent on review and
clarifications from students before the examinations.
5. The students should be oriented regarding the form of examination that
will be given to them. For instance, if the Multiple Choice items will be
asked by shading, the teacher should have given practice shading to the
students before the actual examination. Another example is giving essay
to Elementary students. The teachers should make sure they have given
the students similar format of assessment during classroom activities.
1. The template for Mastery and Periodical Examinations given at the KMS
office should be followed. The heading should include the following:
Complete Name of School (KINGS’ MONTESSORI SCHOOL)
Complete Address and contact number
Title of examination
MASTERY EXAMINATIONS
FIRST GRADING PERIOD
LANGUAGE 6
or
MAHABANG PAGSUSULIT
UNANG MARKAHAN
FILIPINO 6
Name
Grade and Section
Score: NR and PS
Date
Parents’ Signature
Note: This table should be typed first. Therefore, when the final draft is
to be submitted, it should be seen on the page after the last page exam
questions. For example the exam has 3 pages. This table will be seen on
the 4th page. This table will be checked by the assigned subject heads /
academic coordinators. The table will only serve as guide to those
proofreading the drafts and will not be printed with the actual
examination.
3. Making Multiple Choice items:
Arrange the questions according to chronological order ( i.e. in the
order that it was discussed or from basic to complex)
Type the correct answer first, then formulate the distractors.
Arrange the options according to alphabetical order (if single
word answers), according to length (if phrases or sentences,
arrange from shortest to longest)
Clearly indicate if the questions are based on particular passages,
stories or chapters read in class
Directions for Multiple Choice Questions:
DIRECTIONS: Choose the best answer from the given options.
Write the (capital) letter of your answer on the blank provided
before the number.
4. Making TRUE or FALSE items:
Make sure the statements are either correct or incorrect without
exceptions. Do not just lift true statements from the textbook and
add a negative modifier to make it incorrect.
Directions for TRUE and FALSE items:
5. The subject teacher should make sure there are no typographical errors,
especially in Filipino and Araling Panlipunan. The finished work should
always be proofread by the subject teacher before submission to the
Subject head/Academic Coordinators and School Principal.
6. Any details not included in this list of guidelines should be clarified with
the School Principal.
