The patient with liver cancer requires a high calore, high carbohydrate diet with moderate to low fat.
Patients with liver cancer are at risk for edema and ascites and their sodium intake should be limited.
The tomato sandwich with salt free butter best meets these requirements. Rough foods, such as
popcorn, may irritate the esophagus and stomach and lead to bleeding. Peanut butter is high in sodium
and fat, and canned chicken noodle soup is very high in sodium
