for assertion.
ii) Assertion and reason both are correct statements but reason is NOT a correct
explanation for assertion.
iii) Assertion is a correct statement but reason is a wrong statement.
iv) Assertion is a wrong statement but reason is a correct statement.
v) Assertion and reason both are incorrect statements.

4. Assertion: In the list of the metals Cu, Fe ,Zn and Mg with respect to their reactions 1
with dilute hydrochloric acid , Cu is odd one
Reason: Cu does not liberate hydrogen from dilute hydrochloric acid while other
metals do so.
5. Assertion: Aluminium is a reducing agent while fluorine is an oxidizing agent. 1
Reason: Metals act as reducing agent while non- metals act as oxidizing agent.

Case-Study:
Study the following paragraph and answer questions 7 to 10 based on it:

Gaseous exchange through lungs, that is pulmonary respiration occurs in all land vertebrates
even in amphibians. The respiratory surface is represented in the form of alveoli. A lung has
numerous alveoli. Alveoli have very thin membrane for gaseous exchange. The walls of the alveoli
has a bunch of blood capillaries. Air enters alveoli during inhalation. Oxygen of inhaled air diffuses
into blood while carbon dioxide of the blood passes out into alveoli. Impure air passes out of lungs
during exhalation. Respiratory system of humans consists of nasal cavities, pharynx, larynx (voice
box), trachea, bronchioles and alveoli. External respiration is the exchange of gases that occurs at the
respiratory surface that is alveolar surface. Internal respiration is the exchange of gases between
blood and tissues. Cellular respiration is the actual biochemical process of breakdown of glucose
inside the cell.
