SketchUp Activity 2

Shortcuts to remember:
Rectangle - R Key Push/Pull - P Key
Line - L Key Offset - F Key
Circle - C Key Eraser - E Key
Scale - S Key Paint Bucket - B Key
Selection Tool - Space Bar Arch - A Key
Undo - Ctrl + Z Redo - Ctrl + Y
Zoom - Mouse Wheel Orbit - Click Mouse Wheel
Pan - Shift + Click Wheel Save - Ctrl + S

Things to ALWAYS DO FIRST:


1. Open SketchUp. If Necessary click Start Using SketchUp. Remember to click on the person and hit the delete key.
2. Save File: Hold down Ctrl + S Key. Make sure to click the Computer Icon on the Left. Next, double click the USB20 (F:)
Drive Icon. Next, double click your class period, and repeat for your personal folder. Once in your personal folder
Type: SketchUp Activity 2 next to File Name. Finally click Save Button.
Practice:
1. Start by using your Rectangle Tool and make a square 4’,4’. Using the Circle Tool make a 2’ circle on all 4 corners.
Using the Circle Tool make a 2’ circle on all 4 sections where your previous circles meet. Using the Eraser Tool, erase
your square. Using the Eraser Tool erase the arches from the inside 4 pedal shapes. Using the Paint Tool color in your
4 pedal shapes. Erase all exterior circles that are not connected to the pedal shapes or the points next to the pedals.
Using the Push/Pull tool pull all 4 pedal shapes up 2’.
2. Start by making a 2’,2’ square. Pick a corner and start your circle on the corner that is 1’. From the middle point of
your circle draw a vertical line (Blue) 4’, then draw a horizontal line (Red) 4’, Last a vertical line (Blue) 4’. Erase all lines
in the circle except for the vertical line you just created. Erase your square from the beginning. Now locate the follow
me tool from the tool bar. (You need to go to View-Tool Bars-Large Tool Set if you do not have the follow me tool on
the left side of the screen.) You will use the follow me tool by clicking on your circle and then follow the lines up to the
end and click again to stop. This should create a Tube Shape.
3. Free Draw an Object of your choosing. Be creative. Use all of the tools you have learned so far.
