Change Serial number for a SOLIDWORKS Network License

The following are the steps to change the serial number for a SOLIDWORKS network license. These steps
are applicable for all other network licenses of SOLIDWORKS Products (Eg. PDM)

Before changing the serial number, transfer the any active licenses. The steps as follows.

Transfer SOLIDWORKS Network License


1) Transfer the License.

Go to Start Menu > SOLIDWORKS Version > SolidNetWork License Manager > License Borrowing Tab >
check Borrowed Licenses.
Return any of the license if borrowed from the client machine the license is Barrowed
Also make sure SOLIDWORKS is closed on all the client and server machines during this process.
2) Transfer the License.
Server Administration > Modify >Transfer license.

Select “move your product license(s) to a new/upgraded computer


Select “Next”
Select “Next”
(Check here for manually via e-mail)

Activation
Select “Finish”
Modify Network License Manager.
Open the Control panel > Uninstall a Program > Select ‘SOLIDWORKS SolidNetwork License manager’ >
Select ‘Change’.

Select ‘Next’

Check ‘Modify’ and Select ‘Next’


Change the Serial number (add comma and add the second serial number if you want to activate multiple
network licenses)
Select ‘Next’

Select ‘Install’
Select ‘Finish’ to complete the installation.
Activate Network License.
Automatically over the internet
Note: Make sure you have Internet connection on the server

a) Open the SOLIDWORKS Network License Manager Server on the Server machine.

b) Select Yes (if a new serial number is add)


c) Select “Next”

d) Select “Next” (Select all if there is multiple serial number)


e) Select “Finish”
Manually via e-mail
a) If you want do the activation manually (without Internet), after the ‘Step d’, Select ‘Manually
via e-mail’ and Select next.

b) Select ‘Save’ to create a SWActivateRequest_xxxxxxxxx.txt file.


Send the SWActivateRequest_xxxx_xxxx.txt file to [email protected]
You will receive a SWActivateResponse_xxxx_xxxx.txt file in few minutes.
c) Select ‘Open’

d) Bowser and select the ‘SWActivateResponse_xxxx_xxxx.txt’ file and select ‘Open’


e) Select Next

The activation is complete. Restart the server once (not compulsory)
