(2) The relay is 6 PDT, 10Amp and hermetically sealed.
(3) The dedicated HF/SAT select switch output discrete is used to control the Audio HF/satLINK
relay that switches the audio source of the control panel’s HF input between HF audio and
SATCOM audio when a SATCOM voice call is activated. The HF audio input to the relay is in
the normally closed or “relaxed” state. When a SATCOM voice call is activated by either
answering a ground initiated call or by initiating an outgoing call via the cockpit’s MCDU, the
output discrete will activate or “energize” the relay thereby connecting the SATCOM audio to the
HF audio input of the audio control panel. Termination of the SATCOM call will deactivate the
output discrete thereby returning the relay to the “relaxed” position and connecting HF audio
back to the audio control panel.

1. GENERAL
A. This procedure contains the task to do an inspection/check of the satLINK Communication Iridium
Antenna doubler at specific intervals dependent on the type of installation installed on the aircraft.
B. Examine the fuselage skin at predetermined intervals (Table 601) to prevent possible signs of
distress (cracks and/or working rivets) common to the Iridium antenna installation
C. An Antenna P/N S67-1575-165 is installed at the top of the fuselage, between STA 480 to 500 and
between STG STR-1 and STR-2L for the -003 installation.

C. Equipment Required
(1) The major objective in the design of suitable eddy current testing equipment is to achieve good
sensitivity and flexibility at a reasonable cost. The equipment should be suitable for a variety of
applications, and should be able to accommodate different types of coils. In general, versatility
of equipment and ability to analyze signal data are proportional to complexity and cost.
(2) An eddy current test system is actually a collection of subsystems working in conjunction with
each other to extract specific data from a test. The components that make up the system are:
(a) Test coil (normally contained in a probe or fixture). There is no universal test coil. Test
coils are made up to fit the needs of the particular job being performed. Coils of
different designs, and in different combinations can be made to perform highly
specialized tests. Specific probe types are discussed in B737 NDT manual
(b) Oscillator. The system should be capable of generating eddy currents over a wide,
easily varied frequency range. The frequencies most commonly used for inspection of
aluminum range from 100 Hz to 1 MHz.
(c) Balance and Processing System. This equipment should be as flexible as possible,
within cost limitations of the individual operator, and be capable of obtaining all
pertinent information from the test coil. This system detects changes in the flow of eddy
currents. These changes are processed and amplified and presented for operator
readout.
(d) Signal Readout System, or Display. The readout can be a cathode-ray tube, a meter,
defect lights, or a recorder. The system also can include a means of automatic sorting
and marking, and audible alarm auxiliaries. A meter readout normally is used in
maintenance inspection equipment.
(e) Reference Standards. Reference standards are fabricated from material and to
dimensions specified in individual test procedures. Electric discharge machining (EDM)
may be substituted for jeweler's sawcuts in notch fabrication.
D. Inspection Procedure
Note: Inspection of the fasteners installed in the fuselage skin may be accomplished from both
the inside and the outside of the aircraft using non-destructive inspection techniques. Access
for these inspections will be interior and external.
(1) Gain access by removing the Iridium Antenna P/N S67-1575-165 at the top of the fuselage
approximately installed between STA 480 to 500 and between STG 1 and 2L. In accordance
with AMM 23-26-02 page 401.
Note: Inspecting the critical fastener location from the outside of the aircraft allows detection
of the flaw once it has extended beyond the head of the fastener with visual, dye penetrant,
and high frequency eddy current probes (HFEC). The diameter of the fastener head is
assumed twice the fastener shank diameter. The length of the crack as it becomes detectable
is shown below in figure 601.
