The first computer games

We have played computer games for about 60 years, and now games are very sophisticated.
But did you know that the first computer game was a version of tic-tac-toe ? It was in black and
white and it was very simple. A scientist called A.S. Douglas designed it in 1952.
In 1962, an American computer engineer created ‘SpaceWar!’ His name was Steve Russell. He
loved reading science-fiction books so he wanted to invent the first science-fiction game. It was
an amazing invention in 1962.
Nowadays, most young people enjoy playing games at home on their computers or cell
phones, but in the 1970s and 1980s teenagers didn’t have computers. They went to arcades to
play the new, exciting computer games.
Nowadays, major companies are spending a lot of money on developing very realistic games,
so in the future they will be more and more high tech!
