BLUE CARD (Traffic Controller)
This card is for anyone who is required to control traffic using a STOP/SLOW Bat and the legislative
requirement of work based health and safety induction training.
Course Outcomes: This course is designed to meet the requirements of the activity of the Traffic 2011 Course Dates
Controller. With the implementation of the NSW Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000 and the OHS
Regulation 2001 Traffic Control has been identified as a Work Activity. As with all work activity based
health and safety training, this course will provide all participants with the knowledge of all the health

and safety issues relevant to the guidance of traffic past, through or around their worksites. 14 April
Licensing and Regulatory Requirements: This is an RTA developed training program, which will give 5 May
successful participants an RTA certificate valid for three years. Practical and theory work plus assessment
are covered in this one day course. 9 June
GREY CARD (Traffic Controller – Non Construction Card)
Due to community and industry expectations on the RTA to continue to provide Traffic Controller training
for all work situations, the RTA has now introducing a grey in colour Traffic Controller – Non Construction
card. This Grey Photo ID Card would be held by parking attendants, loading dock staff, cycle clubs,
security and event personnel, and the like. Introduction of this card means that:
1. Participants do not need to hold an “OHS Construction Induction or Green-Card” - there will be a specific
Photo ID card for non-construction trainees. i.e. trainees who do not hold the OHS Construction Induction
or Green Card and; Course Number: 17702

2. RTA will issue a specific card - grey in colour - to successful non-construction trainees. This Photo ID
BCCCM2013C
card will bear the words Traffic Controller Non Construction. As such, in colour and in labelling it is readily
distinguishable from the current blue Traffic Controller Photo ID card.

Traffic Controller Requirements • Participants are issued with
Persons seeking to be trained in the RTA Traffic Control using a Stop/Slow Bat (Grey or Blue ticket) are a BLUE Card OR a GREY Card
required to meet the following prerequisites at the commencement of the training course. Cost: $195 (GST free)
1. Traffic Controller Entry Requirements (Blue Card):
Trainer: Stephen Butler
• Adequate Literacy, AND
• A NSW WorkCover Construction Induction Certificate or equivalent, AND Time: 8.00am to 4.00pm
• A NSW P2 Drivers Licence or equivalent or higher, OR • Maximum group size is 16
• A NSW Traffic Controller Photo Card (expired within the last 2 years) • Group bookings available
