Lesson 2: Behavioral Support Management

A. Think of a behavior you have witnessed in a classroom setting

 First, use template below to write out

the behavior chain.

 Second, share with a partner what

you have written and see if they can agree with your conclusion

regarding the student’s behavior.

 Finally, answer these questions:

 Is this a behavior you want to reinforce? If yes, how would

you do that?

Yes. In order to reinforce such behavior, I think I will apply

operant conditioning specifically positive reinforcement. Since the

behavior of this student is something a good example like raising

his virtual hand via google meet to answer the questions of the

teacher, he must be given a praise. If I were the teacher, I will be

going to give him a virtual applause and praise or giving him

additional point. With this, his behavior will be maintained and will

possibly increases.

 Is this a behavior that you want to reduce? If yes, how would

you do that?

Yes. In order to reduce such behavior, I will possibly apply

operant conditioning centralizing the positive punishment. The

behavior of this student is a kind of undesirable because he didn’t

answered and then left the google meet discussion when the
teacher asked him a question regarding on the discussion. If I

were the teacher I think I will be going to task him to create a

summary about the topic being discussed and submit it on the

next meeting. Through this, he will be going to attentively

participate the class and decrease such undesirable behavior.

Create your own steps in doing so.

Steps in behavior plan and intervention strategies:

1. First, observe the each student during the whole class

session.

2. Secondly, categorize the students’ behavior whether their

displayed behavior is desirable or undesirable.

3. Next, describe what is the students’ behavior within the class

that make them desirable or undesirable.

4. Lastly, evaluate and then supply necessary actions on each

student’s behavior. It could be applying reinforcements

(positive and negative reinforcements) or punishments

(positive or negative punishments).

5. (Please refer to the given matrix below.)

B. Think of a behavior that you have that you would like to change. How

could you use behavior modification, specifically positive reinforcement, to

change your behavior? What is your positive reinforce?

The behavior that I have and I would like to change is my confidence

level. In order to change this behavior using the positive reinforcement I

will encourage myself first to go out of the box like exposing myself to

public spaces and will have a conversation with each other. After that, If I

will achieve such actions, I will be going to rate my confidence from 1-10. If
it is beyond 5, then I will be going to treat myself with some snacks.

Through this, I believe that I can enhance my confidence little by little

through rewards or treat in the process of positive reinforcement.
