Topic: In the developed world, average life expectancy is increasing. What

problems will this cause for individuals and society? Suggest some measures that
could be taken to reduce the impact of ageing populations.
Body outline:
1. There are many problems that increased life expectancy brings about
- The foremost concern is that the increasingly ageing population puts a weight on
the medical services framework.
+ WHEN people –older suffer from declining physical health  disease,
disability, dementia.
+ More likely to develop chronic diseases such as heart disease or diabetes.
==> Require special medical treatments and care – time-consuming a money-
consuming
- Another problem people have to face when it comes to extended life span is that
it will have a direct impact on the workforce, working hours and even affects the
national pension budget
+ In 2017, the ratio of working age people (16-64 years old) to elderly people (over
65 years old) was 3,5. By 2040, this ratio will drop to 2,1 -> an increase in the
pension group and a decrease in the working group -> impose more burden on the
national pension budget.
+ In case elderly people keep working less jobs and promotion chances for
young laborers
(+ More and more old people live longer -> their progenies have to take care of not
only the children but also them -> increase financial burden) - Not really
convincing- bỏ cũng dc
2. However, several actions could be taken to solve the issues described above.
- Firstly, the government should have a plan to offer medical care to the elderly
+ Invest more money in medical equipment -> be ready for emergency situation of
aged people who have chronic diseases (sudden heart attack, hypotension,..).
++ Develop of a special health insurance scheme to cover their health-care needs.
+ Spending fund in enhancing nursing home services -> helping the old's progenies
in taking care of them -> strengthen life quality for old people.
(+ With the elderly who receive pension each month, the government should cut
down taxes -> less worry about finances for each family which old people are
living in)
2. It’s advisable for The government to increase the retirement age so that :
-individuals can be able to gain more income
-take care of themselves.- remove burden on family’s finance and national
budget.
