Diary of Learning
June
Sunny June brings the longest day. The veil of
time slips away for a moment.
For the month of June, a month where a life of a
student begins, my world as a student also started to
rotate. It started with the introduction of Afro-Asian
literature where I discovered different cultures and
traditions of countries through stories and articles and
where I was also realized that culture and tradition of
every religion should be treasured.
We also read the ‘Hands of The Blacks’, the story
about the black people who is somewhat mistreated,
that’s the time my mind talk to me saying everyone
must have equality. We should not judge other people
by their physical appearance but how they manage to
control their attitudes in front of the people because
God created us equally, no one powerful than him.
Lastly, we discuss about word stress where I
learned proper stressing and how to pronounce
correctly.
My first day at school, year 2018 but I already
learned many things.
July
In scorched July. The storm clouds fly, lightning
torn. The groggy ground blended into the grey, clouded
sky.
From the month of July, days pass so fast. Now we
are already reading about the story ‘I am an African
Child’ where a boy wants to get free from everything.
You know what? I’ve learned so many principles and I
like the message of the story where it talks about
believing in oneself, embracing opportunity, pursuing
dreams, fighting for freedom, seeking equality and
most of all being optimistic.
On the other hand, I have learned about how
parallelism function who is also known as parallel
structure that helps us construct a sentence properly to
create a unity of thought.
‘The Tale of Two Brothers’ became one of my
favorite story when Ma’am tell it to us. It was where I
learned that jealousy will never win against honesty.
Because even though you have the most of the right to
own something but you did not fight fair, in the end
you will eventually lose.
August
August bears corn, there is a crashing tumble of
sharp feelings today.
From the month of August, my birthday is
coming up and as the days counts by we are
discussing about the elements of short story where I
learned how to find the correct paragraph of every
happening in the story to plot correctly.
Ma’am also give us spelling list to study and the
meaning of it and familiarize the word carefully.
September
September fruit, the leaves drop and dance from
the tree outside the window. Strange how each leaf
knows to let go at the right time.
From the month of September, I learned many
things about cohesive devices where supporting
information is arranged in a logical order. It taught
me how to use transition marks carefully without
failing because transition marks are the bridges of
idea one you use the wrong transition mark,
automatically your sentence will be wrong.
That’s why in this lesson it thought me so many
things like how to use the carefully without
mistaking.
October
In rough October, Earth must disrobe her; stars
fall and shoot. In the wide open space of herself, she
will find a mixture of solitude, freedom and
loneliness.
From the month of October, I heared the
beautiful story of Chunhyang, again we are still
learning the element of short story and I learned was
that the short story is a short work of fiction. Fiction,
as you know, is prose writing about imagined events
and characters. They are true masters combining the
five key elements that go into every great short
story: character, setting, conflict, plot and theme,
and from the of tale of Chunhyang, I learned that the
story of Chunhyang spade tells us about fidelity and
loyalty.
Furthermore, we also read the story of the ‘Aged
Mother’ where I learned that I must value the
importance of my mother because even though they
are nearing their death they will always think about
us, about our protection that’s how mother love
his/her children’s ready to sacrifice everything just
so her children’s will live an abundant life.
November
In keen November, rain will sweep across a
desolate landscape and there is a struggle between
love and pain.
From the month of November, Christmas is
nearing and as we read the story about ‘Makato and
the Cowrie Shell’ I learned things and sayings that I
created in my mind. That even if you started with a
life of nothing if you know how to earn and will
become so hard-working and gumptious you will
eventually succeed like how Makato become the
King of the Mon even though he just started as a boy
with nothing.
Additional to that, I also learned something
about figures of speech where I enjoy plants talking
with me created by my imagining mind all the time.
December
The night is long and cold is strong in the bleak
of December.
From the month of December, as Christmas pass
and New Year is coming everyone is cold by the
strong breeze of the wind. And by that I learned
about the story of the Three evils, which was The
Three Evils are defined by the Chinese government
as "terrorism, separatism and religious extremism".
While everyone is cold here I come continuously
reading about the story of the three evils.
January
January cold desolate.
From the month of January, many stories came
up and while it was continuously playing at the
television my mind starts to roam around about the
stories that’s been playing.
I learned so many things and knowledge from it
basically on how to write a short story. And it was
like the time many years ago go back to that time
while I was watching because it seems so real.
February
February all dripping wet, like the waters
flooding New Orleans, I feel as if my emotions have
overwhelmed the banks of my heart.
From the month of February, as the classes is
nearing to its end and we might bid goodbye to our
friends for a 2 long month of not seeing each other, I
learned things about active and passive voice. The
rules and formula on how to correctly and
completely using those with correct present tense
and past tense.
We also tackle the lesson about prefixes and
suffixes where some small words that is not familiar
with us generally have a meaning but we don’t know
it because we are not familiar with it.
Lastly, I enjoy learning many things in English.
You don’t know it but ENGLISH is my MOST
FAVORITE subject.
