This one-day training is for anyone over 16 who wants to learn adult first aid
for their everyday life, rather than as a requirement of their job (in which case a
workplace course could be more suitable). It is ideal for people who are more likely
to need to use first aid, e.g. if you play sports, enjoy travelling, commute regularly or
care for a relative.
It covers a range of life-saving skills such as unresponsiveness, heart attack,
choking and seizures. The course attracts people looking to learn first aid for many
different reasons, such as:
 wanting to be able to help their family, friends or neighbours
 preparing for university or working abroad during a gap year
 being involved with local community groups or sports clubs
 having experienced a real life emergency.
You'll receive practical, hands-on learning. Our friendly trainers will help you
learn some key skills you really need to know:
 dealing with an emergency
 unresponsive – breathing
 unresponsive – not breathing (cardiopulmonary resuscitation – CPR)
 seizures
 burns
 bleeding heavily
 broken bones, strains and sprains
 head injury
 choking
 heart attack
 stroke
 severe allergic reaction
 diabetic emergency.
