Sars-Cov-2 Rna, QL, RT PCR (Covid-19)

The document provides the results of a SARS-CoV-2 RNA test, which was negative. It explains that a negative result does not rule out infection and emphasizes continuing safety measures. It also describes the test methodology and notes the test was developed by a specific company and has not been FDA approved.

Hello,

You have a NEGATIVE Covid-19 Test Result.

A negative test result does not completely rule out being infected with COVID-19.
If you test negative for COVID-19, this means the virus was not detected at the time your specimen was
collected. It is still possible that you were very early in your infection at the time of your specimen collection
and that you could test positive later.
Also, you could be exposed later and still develop the illness. For all these reasons, it is important to follow
CDC guidance at (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/prevention.html), including
but not limited to frequent hand washing, social distancing, wearing a face covering, covering coughs and
sneezes, monitoring symptoms, and cleaning and disinfectant of frequently touched surfaces -- even after a
negative test result.

NOT_DETECTED
A Not Detected result indicates that SARS-CoV-2 RNA was not present in the specimen above the
limit of detection. However, a negative result does not rule out COVID-19 and should not be
used as the sole basis for treatment or patient management
decisions. A negative result does not exclude the possibility of COVID-19.
The COVID-19 RT-PCR test is a reverse transcription Real-Time polymerase chain reaction (RT-
PCR) test for the qualitative detection of nucleic acid from the SARS-CoV-2 (causative agent
of COVID-19) in upper respiratory tract specimens (e.g.
nasopharyngeal swab and oropharyngeal swab) collected from individuals suspected of COVID-19
by their healthcare providers. The test uses the RNAdvance viral Extraction kit on the Beckman
i7 liquid handler to isolate RNA from upper and lower respiratory
tract specimens. Detection of viral RNA is carried out using the PerkinElmer New Coronavirus
Nucleic Acid Detection kit, a TaqMan-based RT-qPCR run on the Applied Biosystems QuantStudio12
Flex (QS12) instrument. The assay targets specific genomic regions
of SARS-CoV-2: nucleocapsid (N) gene, ORF1ab and an RNA internal control (IC, bacteriophage
MS2) to monitor the process from nucleic acid extraction to fluorescence detection. The limit
of detection (LOD) is 250 viral copies per ml or 12.5 GCE per
reaction for VTM, Mawi buffer or saline. The analytical sensitivity is 99.9% and analytical
specificity is 99.9%.
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by AKESOgen, Inc. It
has not been cleared or approved by the FDA. The laboratory is CLIA certified to perform high-
complexity testing. Any decisions related to patient care and
treatment choices should be based on the independent judgment of the treating physician and
should take into account all information related to the patient, including without limitation,
direct physical examination, patient history, and other tests.
Tempus is not liable for medical judgment with regards to diagnosis, prognosis or treatment in
connection with the test results.
