The document discusses multiplying 3-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers using two methods: the standard multiplication method and the lattice method. Examples are provided to demonstrate both methods step-by-step. Learners are then instructed to complete practice activities in their packet and check their answers in the answer key.

Scene 1: (Intro Spiel)
GFX: Lower thirds Good day, Math-kulits! How are you? Are you
(Name ni Teacher and School) ready for new learnings today?

Pop-up: (Number explosion) Who among you finds multiplication of numbers

easy? Raise your hands. If not, don’t worry
because in this lesson you will learn some tricks
and methods to do multiplication so much easier.

Scene 2 (Present the competency)

In this lesson, you will learn how to multiply
numbers up to three digits by numbers up to two
digits without and with regrouping.

GFX: (How Well Can You Multiply?) Math-kulits, how well can you multiply? Alright,
TB uses flashcards let’s see if you still remember how to multiply
numbers.

Pop up: 5 x 7 = ____ What is 5 times 7?

Pop up: 35 on the blank If your answer is 35, high five!

TB does high five

Pop up: 12 x 4 = ____ How about this, 12 times 4?

Pop up: 48 on the blank If your answer is 48, you did great!
TB does fight sign

Pop up: 24 x 3 = ____ Let’s try the last one. 24 times 3?

Pop up: 72 on the blank If your answer is 72, 2 thumbs up for you!
TB does thumbs up
Scene 3: Discussion Proper (Ex 1)
Math is easy right?
I think you are now ready to multiply bigger
numbers. Let’s have these examples to learn the
steps in multiplying three-digit numbers by two-
digit numbers, without and with regrouping.

Example number 1, find the product of 231 and

23.

Step 1, multiply 231 by the ones digit in the

multiplier which is 3.

3 times 1 is 3.
3 times 3 is 9.
3 times 2 is 6.

Step 2, multiply 231 by the tens digit in the

multiplier which is 2.

2 times 1 is 2. 2 should be written in line with the

tens digit of the multiplier.
2 times 3 is 6.
2 times 2 is 4.

Step 3, add the partial products to get the final

product.

In adding the partial products, start from the

rightmost digits.

Bring down 3.
9 plus 2 equals 11. Write 1, carry 1.
Next, add 6 plus 6 is 12 plus 1 is equal to 13.
Write 3, carry 1.
4 plus 1 is 5.

So, the final product is 5 313.

Scene 4: Discussion Proper (Ex 2)

We still have another method in finding the
product.

We call this Lattice Method.

How do we do Lattice Method?

Let us follow these steps.

Step 1. Create a table with 2 rows and 3 columns.

Using diagonal line, divide each cell into two.
On top of the first row, write the given
multiplicand. At the left of the first column, write
the digits of the multiplier.

Step 2. Multiply the tens digits of the multiplier

and each of the digit in the multiplicand. 2 times
2 is 4. If it is a one-digit product, place zero in the
upper left and place 4 in the lower right of the
cell assigned to them.

Next, 2 times 3 is 6.

2 times 1 is 2.

Step 3. Multiply the ones digit of the multiplier to

each of the digit in the multiplicand. Write the
products assigned to them.

3 times 2 is 6.

3 times 3 is 9.

3 times 1 is 3.

Step 4. Add the digits formed diagonally. Regroup

the numbers when needed.

Start with 3.

Then add, 2, 0, and 9. It is equal to 11.

Write 1 below, carry 1.

Add 0, 6, 0, 6, and 1. Equals, 13.

Write 3 below, carry 1.

Next, add 0, 4, 0, and 1. The answer is 5.

Write 5 on the left side.

Last is 0.

Now, to write the final product, start from the

left most digit. Since the first digit is 0, we
disregard it.
So, the digits are 5 – 3 – 1 – 3. The final product is
5 313.
You see? The final product 5 313 is the same
with that of the previous method we used.

Scene 5: (Activities)

Math-kulits, now that you know how to multiply

3-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers, let’s answer
Activities 1 to 3 in your learner’s packet.

Please go to page 5 to 6 of your Learner’s Packet.

To check your answers, kindly look at the Answer

Key on the last part of your Learner’s Packet.

If you have questions, please tell your parents to

send a message to your teacher.

Scene 8: Conclusion/Assignment

So that’s it, Math-kulits! I hope you now learned

how to multiply 3-digit numbers by 2-digit
numbers, without and with regrouping.

Scene 9: Closing Spiel

Again, this is Teacher Jhona, always saying, smile,

learn, and make Math fun!
