I meet new friends, and we all say,
Hello! Hello! What’s your name?
Nice to meet you! Do you want to play? (x2)
Na na na na na na na na na na na, hey! (x4)
Time: 5 minutes.
Checking homework
I will correct the sentence they had to write the previous class using the structure I’M
WEARING and a piece of clothing they learned. I will walk around the desks sticking a
sticker with phrases like “well done”, “excellent”; if they made a mistake, I will correct them
by using a pencil and sticking a golden star for the effort.
Controlled practice 1
Step 1
I will say, “LET’S REVISE CLOTHES.” I will show them a power point presentation
in which they will have a picture of an item of clothing and the question “WHAT IS THIS?
Or WHAT ARE THESE?” in a slide, I will ask students those questions and expect them to
answer in L2 with the name of the item; then, in the following slide, they will see the same
picture with the name of the item.

Lead-in
I will show them another power point presentation. I will say, “LOOK AT THIS
PICTURE”. I will show them a picture of myself wearing some of the items they already
know like: a raincoat, a woolly hat, a scarf and glasses. I will say, “IN THIS PICTURE I’M
WEARING…” I will let students to answer. Then, I will call one student and ask him/her the
name of an item; once they answer I will say, “YES! I’M WEARING A WOLLY HAT,
WHAT’S NEXT?” I will let students answer the question and repeat, “YES! I’M WEARING
A SCARF”

I will do the same with other three pictures of myself.

Presentation
Step 1
I will teach the structures: “What is she/he wearing? She’s wearing… What is he/she
doing? He/she’s playing…”
Step 2
I will put on a scarf and say, “LOOK AT ME, I’M WEARING A SCARF” After that,
I will use body language to represent the action of “play the drums”. I will ask students,
“WHAT AM I DOING?” I will expect them to answer “play the drums”. I will continue
saying, “YES, I’M PLAYING THE DRUMS” Then, I will put on sunglasses and start acting
with my body “play tennis”. I will ask, “WHAT AM I WEARING? I’M WEARING...?” I
will expect them to answer sunglasses. “WHAT AM I DOING? I’M PLAYING…?” I will
expect them to answer tennis. I will call one male student to come to the front and ask him
to wear the scarf and start acting the action “play the recorder”. I will ask, “WHAT IS HE
WEARING? WHAT IS HE DOING?” I will write the questions on the board, and the
beginning of the answers: “HE’S WEARING… HE’S …” When students answer, I will write
their answers with another colour. Then I will ask students to repeat the questions and the
answers. I will do the same but with a female student.
Step 3
I will call one female student to come to the front and ask her to wear a raincoat and
start acting the action “play the drums”. I will ask, “WHAT IS SHE WEARING? WHAT IS
SHE DOING?” I will write the questions on the board, and the beginning of the answers:
“SHE’S WEARING… SHE’S …” When students answer, I will write their answers with
another colour. Then I will ask students to repeat the questions and the answers. I will ask
students to open their notebooks, ask the date and write it on the board. “TODAY IS
THURSDAY, 7TH OCTOBER. IT’S SPRING. IT’S (WEATHER).” As a title, I will write
“WHAT’S SHE WEARING? WHAT’S HE DOING?

Step 4
I will ask students to pay attention to the TV. I will be projecting the picture on page
32. I will not ask them to open their books because their photocopies do not have colours. I
will zoom one character and ask students, “WHO IS HE/SHE?” When they answer, I will
continue asking, “WHAT IS HE/SHE WEARING?” I will expect students to answer with
the colour and the item; if they do not answer like that, I will say, “HE IS WEARING (RED
GLOVES)” and encourage students to repeat after me. I will do the same with all the
characters.

Step 5
Once I finish doing this, I will zoom one character and ask a student, “WHAT IS HE
WEARING?” Then, I will do the same with another character and another student twice.
When I finish I will call one student and say, “(JUAN) ASK (CARLOS) WHAT IS MIKE
WEARING?” Once (Carlos) answers, I will say, “NOW, (CARLOS) ASK (JUAN) WHAT
IS MIKE DOING?” I will do the same with three more couples. If they have trouble asking
or answering, I will point at the examples that are written on the board.
Step 6
I will ask students to open their books on page 33 and look at activity 1. I will ask
students, “TELL ME, WHAT CAN YOU SEE IN THE FIRST SPEECH BUBBLE?” I will
listen to students’ answers and ask the same about the other two. I will ask them what the
characters are wearing in each speech bubble. Then, I will play the audio once and the second
time, I will stop and encourage students to repeat the sentences.
Step 7
After that, I will make them read the dialogue aloud.
Controlled practice 2
Step 1
I will ask students to look at activity 2. I will ask them to look at the first picture and
tell me what Mike is wearing, then what he is doing. I will do the same with all the characters.
If students have trouble answering one of the questions, I will ask a classmate to help him/her.

Step 2
I will ask one student to choose a character from that activity and keep it as a secret.
I will say, “NOW, ASK QUESTIONS TO YOUR PARTNER AND GUESS WHICH
CHARACTER YOUR CLASSMATE CHOSE. I’LL START: IS IT A HE OR A SHE?”
Once that student answers, I will write that “clue” on the board. Then, I will point to one
student to ask another question.
Extra activity
I will ask students to open their books on page 27 in the AB part.
I will ask students to look at pictures in section 1. I will ask, “CAN YOU TELL ME
WHAT’S HERE?” I will listen to their answers and say, “YES, IT IS THE SAME
CHARACTER BUT IN PICTURE A HE’S WEARING A WOOLLY HAT AND IN B HE’S
WEARING SUNGLASSES. LISTEN TO THE AUDIO AND TICK THE CORRECT
PICTURE.” I will play the audio once and I will stop it after each dialogue.
