Filipinos have become addicted to various technologies like computers, phones, tablets and other internet-connected devices. The Philippines ranks number 1 globally for social media usage due to the accessibility and affordability of internet connections. However, experts warn that excessive technology and social media use can negatively impact peoples' behaviors and disconnect them from real-world relationships and activities as people become engrossed in the online world. While technology provides benefits, it should not become the main focus of peoples' lives and draw attention away from important real-world matters like family and community.

Filipinos addiction to different technologies
In this modern world, technologies were present everywhere. It
became an addiction to almost everyone: computers, televisions, cellphones, iPads and other internet-based gadgets. Cellphones were mostly use for calling and texting someone but through an internet connection, a person can access different social media platforms that will help them interact with almost everyone including strangers. These platforms allow people to gather information across the globe which actually help them to be updated to the events that were happening everyday. According to a recent study conducted by We Are Social (2019), the Philippines made it to the list as number 1 social media user in the whole world. The accessibility and affordability of the internet made it easy for the people to download social media apps, engage in online gaming and watch different videos. You want to learn how to cook? google and youtube are right there. You can search for many recipes in google and watch cooking vlogs in youtube for free. You want to be informed and entertained? Social media got your back. You want to watch movies? Netflix is one subscribe away. You can also actually work and get paid online. In this virtual world, everything is made possible. Truly these new media has a lot of advantages. It also made us feel more connected to the world, but at what cost? Ofcourse, having too many gadgets and social media browsing have its downside. Too much usage of digital networks is not good. Experts say that the behavior and actions of people changed from too much exposure to digital world. They often feel the need to engage with digital devices, checking their profiles or just scrolling in their feeds from the time they wake up to the end of the day. Nowadays, people can stand a day without engaging in the digital networks. For instance, they weren’t able to connect and interact to people online for some reason, this will make them preoccupied and forget some of the activities they needed to perform. It’s tragic to think that everytime our internet connection at home is bad, we feel disconnected to the world. These devices truly help provide a diversion to people from stresses and burdens in their life. However, people end up spending too much of their time engrossed in technology. It completely became their escape from the real world. Whatever we see and read in the social media world affect and shape the way we perceive the society. It is terrifying that the communication technology become their life itself. Due to our addiction in these networks we tend to forget to pay attention to our families, friends and to the events in our surroundings. We have to keep in our minds that there are matters more important in this life than technology. It became a tool to bring people apart than bringing them together. Yes, technology is important and it will always play a vital role in people’s lives within this planet but they should not be the main focus of our existence.
