The document describes two mixtures - calamansi extract and soy sauce, and food coloring mixed with hot and cold water. When calamansi extract and soy sauce were mixed, the mixture appeared black, exhibiting a single phase and color. Food coloring mixed faster with hot water than cold water, but both ultimately displayed a uniform color. The mixtures formed homogenous solutions where the individual components could no longer be distinguished. The activity demonstrated how mixing can create new products, like using the calamansi-soy sauce mixture as a sauce.

Guide Questions:

1. What happens to the two mixtures when you mix them? Describe each.
- In task 1, when I mixed the calamansi extract and soy sauce, I observed that the two
substances becomes one. But it appears black following the color of the soy sauce. While in
task 2, when I took a drop of food coloring to hot water, they food color mixed faster
compare to a drop of food coloring to cold water. But after, both mixtures exhibit the same
color. Only that it took a longer time for drop a food coloring and cold water to completely
mixed.
2. Can you still distinguish each component? Explain your answer.
- No, it is hard to identify each component since they mixed well.
3. Describe the appearance of the mixture you made?
- The appearance of two mixtures become one. The color of the first mixture (calamansi
extract and soy sauce) in task 1 follows the color of the soy sauce; while the color of both
set-up (food coloring and hot water/ food coloring and cold water) follows the color of the
food coloring I use.
4. When you mixed calamansi extract with soy sauce, did they exhibit single phase?
- Yes, it appears like no substance were mixed to soy sauce since the appearance of the
mixture follows the appearance of a soy sauce.
5. Did the particles completely mix?
- Yes, based on what I observed the particles completely mix each other producing only a
single phase.
6. What kind of mixture is shown in the activity?
- The mixtures presented in task 1 and 2 are example of homogenous mixture. Where only
single appearance was observed when two or more samples were mixed.
7. What are the benefits of the two activity?
- It gives me insights on how to create or produce another product. I learned that mixing two
samples or more can probably give me new idea of producing another product. Like in task
1, calamansi extract and soy sauce when mix well is a good example of a sauce or dipping.
8. What did you feel after doing this activity?
- I am delighted. Doing this activity teaches me possibilities of creating/ producing a new
product out of mixing two or more samples.
