TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ASCTIVITY
A. DAILY ROUTINE

Good Morning Everyone. Good Morning Ma’am!

Turn on your cameras, Please! (Students will open their

cameras)
(Teacher checking if students are in uniforms)

Okay, thank you.

Welcome to our E-Class.

Does everyone hear me?

Okay… Yes Ma’am.

Does everyone see me clearly?

Okay good. So, before we start our lesson, Yes Ma’am

Let’s start first, our day by asking guidance from

our Father in heaven.

Lisondra, can you the lead the prayer, Please?

Let us pray…. (students will pray)

Thank you (name of students).

Okay Class, I already sent your digital attendance

link in the chat box, it’s up to you, if you sign it up
now or later before we end our E-class, just don’t
forget to sign up to confirm your attendance.
Okay?
Yes Ma’am

Am I speaking too fast or is it okay?

It is okay Ma’am.
Okay, good to know.

B. REVIEW

Anyway class,
What was our lesson yesterday?
Student will raise hands
Yes (name of students)?
Ma’am our lesson yesterday is
about variance and standard
deviation.

Okay. Thank you (name of students).

Student will raise hand
So, what is a standard deviation?
Ma’am it measures how spread-
Yes (name of students)? out numbers are and Its symbol is
sigma.

Ma’am variance is about how far

Very good, how about variance? a set of numbers is spread out.
Subtract the mean from each
value and square it. Then divide
by the total number of values.
That would be the variance.

Student will raise hand

Very good. What about the value needed to work
out the standard deviation and variance?
Ma’am the value needed is the
Yes (name of students)? mean.

Ma’am the variance and standard

deviation describe the amount of
Yes, that’s correct. Very good. spread, dispersion or variability of
the items in a distribution.

Okay class, I think you are all ready to move on

into our next topic.

Allow me to present to my slide and the Learning

Objectives for today’s lesson.

(PowerPoint Presentation presented and read the

objectives)

C. MOTIVATION
But before we discussed our next lesson
I’ll have here an illustration.

What can you say about this?

Its characteristics and properties.

you did all a great job!

All of your answers are related to our next topic.

D. PRESENTATION OF THE LESSON

Okay, let’s move on to our lesson proper.

For today’s lesson, our topic is about

“Understanding the Normal Curve Distribution”.

A Normal Curve Distribution is probability

distribution that is symmetrical on both sides of
the mean, so the right side of the center is a
mirror image of the left side.
And to understand the definition further, lets
identify its properties.
Anyone got the idea based from the definition? Student will raise hand.

Yes (name of students)?

Ma’am a normal curve shaped
like a bell.

Yes, that’s correct.

The Properties of the Normal Probability

Distribution are:
1. The distribution curve is bell-shaped.

Literally as you can see on this picture, the

graph of a normal curve shaped like a bell.

Student will raise hand.

What will be the other properties?

Anyone from the class? Ma’am the normal curve is

symmetrical
Yes (name of students)?

Yes correct.

2. The curve is symmetrical about its

center. Ma’am equal side
When we say symmetrical what does it
mean?

That’s right, it can be equal because, if

something is symmetrical, it has two halves Yes Ma’am
which are exactly the same, that one half is
the mirror image of the other.

Understood class?

3. The mean, the median, and the mode

coincide at the center. Ma’am coincides where in a given
intersect on the same location or
what comes into your mind when you hear point?
the word coincide?

Yeah, as it stated the mean, the mode and

the median coincide at the center or can be
found at the center.

The fourth properties stated that…

4. The width of the curve is determined by

the standard deviation of the
distribution. Yes Ma’am

On your own idea, what does these

properties mean?

(The teacher explains thru illustration)

Do you get it class? Ma’am its like the parallel line,

they never meet each other
Okay the next property is,

5. The curve is asymptotic to the base

line.

Class, when we say asymptotic, what does it

mean?

Correct, it can be parallel, when we say

asymptotic, they are approaching but
never connecting or touches on the x axis
of a line.

6. The total area under the normal curve is

1. Yes, Ma’am..

This means that the area of the normal

curve is calculated as 1, because the
curve is in standardized distribution.

(The teacher explains thru illustration)

Do you get it class?

Another Class, every normal curve (regardless its

mean or standard deviation) it conforms to the
following rule, which is called as Empirical Rule,

This rule tells us that for a normally distributed

variable, the following are true:
 Approximately 68% of the data lie within 1
standard deviation of the mean.

(The teacher explains thru illustration)

 Approximately 95% of the data lie within 2
standard deviation of the mean.

(The teacher explains thru illustration)

 Approximately 99.7% of the data lie within Yes Ma’am

3 standard deviation of the mean
None Ma’am
Do you get it class?

Any Clarification?

Okay very good. Today class, we will also be

discussing the Area Under the Normal Curve.
A z- score is a statistical measurement of a
score’s relationship to the mean in a group of
scores.
It is calculated by subtracting X from the
measurement μ and then dividing the result by s
(or σ).
( x−μ )
Z=
σ

(The teacher explains thru illustration)

And to identify the area of the curve we need the

z-Table, which also known as the Table of Areas
under the Normal Curve.

This is how a Z-table look like

(picture presented):
As you can see at this picture, the upper

horizontal part of the table represents the

hundredth place of a z-value, while at vertical
side is the z-value.

(Teacher will explain thru illustration)

Okay,
Let’s have an example for you to understand how Yes Ma’am
to use this table. I’ll will send the z-table on the
chat box for your reference for this exam.

Find the area that corresponds to z = 1.

To answer this, we have steps to follow:

Ma’am we will have to express the

Are you following? given into 3 digits from,

Ma’am it is located on the row of

the table the value of 2.5

Ma’am it is on the vertical side of

Let’s have another example, the table.

Find the area that corresponds to z = –2.58. Ma’am, were going to locate the
column with that heading of 0.08.
What will be our first step?

Ma’am, were going to find where

Yes, that’s right, express the given into 3 digits did they intersect.
from, since the given is in three-digit form
already, what will we do next?

Correct, were going to find the z=2.5 in the row of

the table.
Where is the row on the table?

Ma’am they intersect at 0.4951

Okay good. Then, what will be our next step?

That’s right.

Okay. That’s right and then what’s next?

Yes Ma’am
None Ma’am
Correct, we will read the area at the intersection
of Row 2.5 and Column 0.08.
Yes Ma’am

So, class
where 2.5 and 0.08 intersect?

Yes, they intersect at 0.4951. Therefore, the area

that corresponds to z= -2.58 is 0.4951
Do you get it class?
Any clarification?

Okay very good.

Are you ready to do some activity?
E. ACTIVITY.
Yes Ma’am
Okay class, prepare your sketch pad or a bond
paper will be enough. Answer this activity for 5
mins, after that will check it and also take a
picture to your answers, you may send to our
LMS. Ma’am 0.3315

Your 5mins may start now.

Ma’am 0.4591
Find the corresponding area between z = 0 and
each of the following:
1. z=0.96 Ma’am 0.4854
2. z=1.74
3. z=2.18 Ma’am 0.4964
4. z=2.69
5. z=3.00 Ma’am 0.4987

after 5 mins.
Okay class, times up.
Is everyone done answering?
Okay very good.
Let’s answer your activity.

What is the answer for number 1?

That’s correct! Very good.

How about for number 2.?

Okay, Very good.
1. Which of the following best
And for number 3? describes a normal
distribution?
for number 4?

Lastly for number 5?

Okay, you all did a great job class.

Is it easy?

Let’s have another activity.

Answer this questions that I’ll be sharing on my

normal distribution? normal distribution?
a. The mean, median, and mode are equal.
b. The mean is zero and the standard
deviation in one.
c. It is symmetrical about the mean value.
d. The standard deviation does not affect
the height of the normal curve.

The answer will be?

For number 4, kindly read the question Ma’am C
(name of students)

4. Which of the following is a characteristic of a 5. The standard deviation of

normal distribution? a standard normal
distribution is _____.
a. The mean, medial and mode are not
necessarily equal.
b. The mean is not the center of the distribution.
c. It is symmetrical about the mean value.
d. The standard deviation does not affect the
shape of the normal curve.

Ma’am B.
The answer will be?

5. The standard deviation of a standard normal

distribution is _____.

a. 0
b. 1 Ma’am we follow the steps we
c. 2 have discussed.
d. 3

First, Express the given z-value

what will be the answer? into a three-digit form. Second,
Using the z-Table, find the first
two digits on the left column.
F. ANALYSIS Third, Match the third digit with
the appropriate column on the
right and Fourth Read the area
Okay class, (or probability) at the intersection
From our activity, how did arrived with your of the row and the column and
answers again? that will be the required area.

Okay, and what are those steps?

Determined by standard
deviation.
Ma’am zero
Very Good (students name)!

On the first part of our lesson, we have discussed

the Normal curve distribution.

We’ve discussed that the width of the curve is Ma’am the standard deviation will
determined by what? be 1.

Correct, it is determined by the standard

deviation.
How about class in the standard normal curve the
mean will always be what?

Correct, the mean will always be zero, because it

is in the center and in standardized distribution.

But class if the mean is zero, how about the Ma’am because one reason that
standard deviation? a normal distribution is important
is that many psychological and
educational variables are
Correct, as what I have said earlier the curve is in distributed approximately
normal distribution, then the standard deviation normally
will always be 1 or 100%.

Since, we are discussing the normal curve

distribution have you ever wonder class what is
the importance normal curve distribution in our
real life?

Ma’am height.

That’s correct, because the measures of reading Ma’am because, height of the
ability, introversion, job satisfaction, and memory population is the example of
are among the many psychological variables normal distribution, because most
approximately normally distributed. although the of the people in a specific
distributions are only approximately normal, they population are of average height
are usually quite close

What do think the daily life examples of Normal

Distribution.

Yes height. Correct. Why ?

Yes Ma’am

Yes. That’s right. The number of people taller and

shorter than the average height people is almost
equal, and a very small number of people are
either extremely tall or extremely short. However,
height is not a single characteristic, several
genetic and environmental factors influence
height. Therefore, it follows the normal
distribution.

Do you get it class?

You did all a great job today.

Yes Ma’am

G. EVALUATION
