A healthy lifestyle includes regular exercise, a healthy diet, engaging in enjoyable activities, surrounding oneself with positive people, and maintaining a positive outlook. Some key components are exercising for 20-30 minutes 3-5 times per week, eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and limiting unhealthy foods, taking breaks to do enjoyable activities, and focusing on the brighter aspects of life even during difficult times. Negative lifestyle choices like inactivity, unhealthy eating, smoking, excessive drinking, and ignoring health issues can negatively impact one's well-being, while positive choices can improve mood, energy levels, relationships, decision-making, injury risk, nutrition, and overall health.

We’ve heard it many times before, but do we really know what a healthy lifestyle

means?
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as “a state of complete physical,
mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity,” which
implies that this concept goes beyond the existence or lack of existence illnesses.
Consequently, more than just healthy living, we must talk about a healthy lifestyle that
includes food, physical exercise, preventive healthcare, work, the relationship with the
environment, and social activity.
What are the components of a healthy lifestyle?
From the perspective mentioned previously, it can be determined that some of the habits
necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle are the following:
Maintain a regular exercise routine:
No, you do not have to force yourself into intense workouts at the gym, but you need to
keep as active as possible. You can stick to easy floor exercises, swimming, walking, or
simply keep yourself moving by doing some household chores. Do what your body
allows you to do.
What is important is that you continue exercising. Give at least twenty to thirty minutes
a day to exercise at least three to five times a week. Have a routine; see to it that you
have enough physical activity each day.
Be conscious in your diet:
A healthy diet is achieved by including all the foods, but in the right proportions and
with the correct quantity.
To maintain a healthy lifestyle, you need to keep eating healthy. Add more fruits and
vegetables in your diet and eat less carbohydrates, high sodium, and unhealthy fat.
Avoid eating junk food and sweets.
Engage in the things you are passionate about;
Every now and then, to keep the stress and the demands of life from taking over, take a
break to do something you love doing.
Surround yourself with positive energy:
In order to have a sound mental and emotional state, you must surround yourself with
positive energy. Yes, not all problems can be avoided. But it helps to face such
obstacles with an optimist outlook. Surround yourself with positive people.
Make it a habit to always look at the brighter side of life. Even if you find yourself in
the worst situation, there is always an upside to it—something good and positive.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is not that difficult, nor does it require a lot of work. Just
keep doing what you do and apply the staying healthy tips.
Negative lifestyle choices – the implications:
Making negative lifestyle choices can be active – something people do – or passive –
something people choose not or neglect to do. They include:

 not doing enough physical activity


 being too sedentary, ie sitting or lying down for long periods
 having an unhealthy diet, eg eating too much or too little, eating too much
fat/sugar/salt
 not getting enough sleep or having erratic sleep patterns
 smoking
 abusing alcohol, ie drinking too much and/or too often
 eg taking drugs
 self-harming
 ignoring signs and symptoms of illness or emotional strain
Benefits of living a healthy lifestyle for yourself
 Overall, you will feel better! Your body and mind will have more freedom and
you will be able to do things that you could not before.
 Your fatigue will be reduced when doing any physical activity, since you will
gain strength.
 When you feel good about yourself, you will express it on the outside. In this
sense, your social relationships will improve.
 You will rest properly, which will make you full of energy every morning.
 You will make decisions correctly thanks to the mental balance you have.
 You will be active, minimizing the risk of injury.
 You will have a varied and balanced diet that will make your body and mind
stay strong and healthy.
