Development of E-Commerce
- 1984: Gateshead SIS/Tesco is the first B2C online shopping site and Mrs.
Snowball, 72 years old, is the first online customer. In April 1984, CompuServe
launched Electronic Shopping Centers in the US and Canada. It is the first
comprehensive e-commerce service.
- 1990: Tim Berners-Lee builds the first browser, WorldWideWeb, using the NeXT
machine.
- 1992: Terry Brownell launches online shop Bulletin board system using
RoboBOARD/FX.
- 1994: Netscape launched the Navigator browser in October with Mozilla. Pizza
Hut order on this site. First online banking opened. Some efforts aim to offer fresh
flower delivery and online magazine subscriptions. "Adult" devices are also
available, such as cars and bicycles. Netscape 1.0 was introduced in late 1994, the
SSL encryption protocol makes transactions more secure.
- 1995: Jeff Bezos launches Amazon.com and 24-hour free commerce, Internet
radio, Radio HK, and the Net Radio star broadcast. Dell and Cisco began to
actively use the Internet for commercial transactions. eBay was founded by
computer programmer Pierre Omidyar as AuctionWeb.
- 2012: US e-commerce and online retail sales are expected to reach $226 billion,
up 12% compared to 2011.
- It is forecasted that by 2025, the e-commerce industry will account for 10% of the
total spending of FMCG globally.
- E-commerce websites are springing up more and more. Foreign investment funds
also invest a lot in Vietnam's e-commerce website.
- Tiki: was established in 2010, at first, Tiki was just books and stationery, then
Tiki expanded to products such as household appliances, technology electronics,
cosmetics, ... At the same time, building develop programs to protect the interests
of consumers, policies of quick delivery. Tiki has made great strides and rose to the
top of the largest e-commerce platforms in Vietnam. In 2014, Tiki was voted as
"the most popular e-commerce website"
