Research Environment

This study will be conducted at Colegio de San Antonio de Padua,

Guinsay, Danao City. The researcher choose this place because it is more

convenient for the researchers to conduct a survey with in the vicinity because it

is the researcher’s school and it is the area which is more applicable for the

study.

CSAP was envisioned by the late Manong Amon Durano that there will be

a school which could offer quality of education to the Danawanons. As this

academic institution founed since 2004 and located in Guinsay, Danao City,

where in Guinsay is located along the national road highway. Figure 2 shows the

map to CSAP.

Research Respondents

The respondents of the study will be the Grade 11 students in Colegio de

San Antonio de Padua, as the location of the research. The sampling that will be

used is the simple random sampling which they will be randomly selected and

they have all the chances to be selected, and then the respondents will be

determined by the use of Slovin’s Formula. (.n  1 NN( e ) 2 )

n  1836836
( 0.05) 2
where:

n  1836836
( 0.0025)
n= sample

n  1836
2.09 N= population (271)

n  3836
.09 e= margin of error (0.05)

n  271

The recommended number of sample is 271 or beyond. The

researchers will get thirty two percent (32%) of respondents in grade grade 11

which consists of 17 sections all in all. Therefore, the researchers will also get

thirty two percent (32%) respondents in every classroom or section.

22

Colegio de San Antonio de Padua is compose of 836 Grade 11 students.

Table 1 shows the number of respondents in total population and as well as the

number of sample respondents per section or classroom.

Research Instrument

The tool used in this study is the adapted-made questionnaire, where in

the researchers copied the questions that is related to the topic and problem.

This instrument has two parts: Demographics and Knowledge.

23

The Part I. Demographics in the questionnaire is where the respondent’s

grade is being determined using the DepEd’s grading system where the rating

90-100 is determined as an Outstanding student which is more focused in class

and not distracted by any factors. Next, the 85-89 is determined as Very

Satisfactory which the students learns lesson normally but also find a bit of

difficulty. The, 80-84 is determined as a Satisfactory which the student reaches

the middle rating of the grading system, then, 70-79 is determined as Fairly

Satisfactory which the student are slow in picking lessons but still had passed

some of the examination. And lastly, the below 70 rating is determined as Did

not meet Expectations where the student’s need help and attention.

The Part II. Knowledge of the questionnaire are simple questions which

only can be answered by Yes, No and Maybe. The respondents will answer Yes

If he or she agrees to the questions, and also the respondents can answer No if

he or she disagree to the question and Maybe if he or she his not so sure or

doubtful, hence the questions can only be answered once.

Research Procedures

The gathering of data will be done through the following schemes:

preliminary preparation, administration and collection of research instruments,

scoring and statistical treatment.

As the first preparation for the gathering of data, a written permission

will be secured in which the transmittal letter is referred to the Senior High
24

School Principal to allow them to conduct their study in Colegio de San Antonio

de Padua regarding on the study “ The Impact of Family Dynamics to Grade 11

Students School Performances”.

After the letters have been signed and approved, the researchers

prepared the research instrument which is the standardized survey

questionnaire. Explanation is given on the purpose and importance of the study

and on how the instrument is to be accomplished. The students will also be

given an informed consent as a permission to let them be our respondents. The

questionnaires also, will be given not more than 30 minutes to answer the

questions. After collecting the data, the researchers will then tally and tabulate

the gathered data.

Statistical Treatment

This study uses Descriptive-survey method. The mean and Pearson’s or

product moment correlation coefficient formula are utilized in obtaining results of

the injuries.

Mean is used in order to determine the demographic profile of the

respondents and to have a primary aim of the study, to find out the Impact of

Family Dynamics to Grade 11 students School Performances. On the other hand

25

Pearson’s or Product moment correlation coefficient is used in order to identify

the significant relationship between the Variable in the study.

Percentage

The percentage, represented by P, is used to distribute a data which is a

portion to the whole number. This is used to measure the distribution profile of

the respondents in terms of identified factors found in questionnaire.

Formula:
f
P=  100 where : P= Percentage
n
N= number of cases

f= Frequency

100= Constant

Mean

The mean, represented by M or x is used to described a set of data to

what point the item values or scores tend to cluster or concentrate. As the

scores cluster around each other, a single value appears to represent typically all

the scores. However, itxis affected by the extreme values. The score of
x
n
measurements can easily change the value of the mean even if that is very high

or very low scores.

Formula: where: x̄ - mean

x - sum of the item values

n - number of items

Pearson’s or Product Moment Correlation Coefficient

26

The Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient is a measure of the

strength of the linear relationship between two variables. It is referred to as

Pearson’s correlation or simply as the correlation coefficient. If the relationship

between the variables is not linear, then the correlation coefficient does not

adequately represent the strength of the relationship between the variables.

dxdx
Rp= ( N 1)( sdx)( sdy)

Where:

Rp= Pearson’s coefficient or correlation between variable x and y

Dxdy= sum of the product of the deviation between variable x and y

Sdx= the standard deviation of the variable x

Sdy= the standard deviation of variable y

N= total number of subjects

To interpret the coefficient of correlation, the following interpretation of

the different values of coefficient of correlation will be used.
