high performance in their duties. They have to be professional by following the teacher's
professionalism. So, they can fully fill the criteria of teaching profession. If teachers

we can make all the students be genius

3. “Teacher: Developing Knowledge Perfecting Morals” (Teacher’s Day Theme 2015,

MOE).

Based on the theme above, discuss how professional practice on self-improvement

helps teachers to achieve their goals in accordance to the theme of Teacher’s Day 2015.

- Effective professional learning focuses on developing the core attributes of an effective

teacher. It enhances teachers' understanding of the content they teach and equips them
with a range of strategies that enable their students to learn that content.
4. How does research culture enhance teacher profession?
- Research can help teachers to understand what works and why, what the short and
long-term implications are, provide a justification and rationale for decisions and actions,
help to build a repertoire to help deal with the unexpected, identify problems, inform
improvement and so forth.

5. How does reflective practice enhance the teaching and learning in the classroom?

•Reflective practice helps create confident teachers

Reflective practice develops your ability to understand how your students learn and the
best ways to teach them. By reflecting on your teaching, you identify any barriers to
learning that your students have. You then create lessons which reteach any content
which your students have not been able to access to allow them to overcome any
obstacles and develop.

•Reflective practice makes sure you are responsible for yourself and your students

Reflecting on your teaching will help you to understand how your students best learn and
will allow you to be accountable for their progress. By assessing the strengths and
weaknesses in your own teaching, you will develop an awareness of the factors that
control and prevent learning.

•Reflective practice encourages innovation

Reflective practice allows you to adapt lessons to suit your classes. You can create and
experiment with new ideas and approaches to your teaching to gain maximum success.
By varying learning and experimenting with new approaches, students have a richer
learning experience. They will think more creatively, imaginatively and resourcefully, and
be ready to adapt to new ways and methods of thinking.

•Reflective practice benefits all

By reflecting, you create an environment which centres on the learner. This environment
will support students and teachers all around you to become innovative, confident,
engaged and responsible.
6. Elaborate the impacts of lifelong learning on the development of teaching
professionalism.

1. Renewed self-motivation

Sometimes we get stuck in a rut doing things simply because we have to do them, like
going to work or cleaning the house. Figuring out what inspires you puts you back in the
driver’s seat and is a reminder that you can really do things in life that you want to do.

2. Recognition of personal interests and goals

Re-igniting what makes you tick as a person reduces boredom, makes life more
interesting, and can even open future opportunities. You never know where your
interests will lead you if you focus on them.

3. Improvement in other personal and professional skills

- While we’re busy learning a new skill or acquiring new knowledge, we’re also building
other valuable skills that can help us in our personal and professional lives. This is
because we utilize other skills in order to learn something new. For example, learning to
sew requires problem-solving. Learning to draw involves developing creativity. Skill
development can include interpersonal skills, creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking,
leadership, reflection, adaptability and much more.

4. Improved self-confidence

- Becoming more knowledgeable or skilled in something can increase our self-confidence

in both our personal and professional lives. In our personal lives, this confidence can
stem from the satisfaction of devoting time and effort to learning and improving, giving us a
sense of accomplishment. In our professional lives, this self-confidence can be the
feeling of trust we have in our knowledge and the ability to apply what we’ve learned.

7. Elaborate the importance of in-service training in the development of teaching

professionalism.
- Training program in an organization is a process by which people are taught with skills
and given the necessary knowledge or attitude to enable them to carry out their
responsibilities to the required standard in the present job and to undertake greater and
more demanding roles for effective job performance. Organizations are facing many
changes which are related to economic needs, social needs and technology needs. As
such, training programmes play an important part to overcome these problems and to
cater the needs of the organizations.
- Training program is also important in the education sector, same as the other sectors or
organizations. The need for training in education, particularly for teachers, is important to
improve the quality of education in Malaysia. Teachers are crucial in implementing
educational reforms in accordance with the aspiration of the National Philosophy of
Education. The success of a school curriculum is closely related to its effective
implementation. Teachers have to be personally aware of the school curriculum, improve
and enhance the necessary skills to interpret the concept changes accurately and to
implement the modified curriculum according to its requirements, aims and objectives.

8. Discuss how teachers can update their knowledge and skills in the context of
teacher as lifelong learners.
- Continuous professional development (CPD) is crucial for teacher’s professionalism, and
affects teaching practices in the classroom. In addition, teachers’ self-efficacy and job
satisfaction are higher when professional development has a positive impact on their
work. Lifting barriers to participation in professional development by providing incentives
and support structures, such as allocated time, as well as offering relevant professional
development opportunities that meet teachers’ needs, are crucial for making CPD
accessible and purposeful for teachers. Education systems could also build on effective
forms of professional development, such as active learning and collaborative
approaches, to improve the overall quality of professional development offered to the
teaching workforce. These efforts can help teachers become lifelong learners and grow
in their profession.

9. Compare and contrast teaching with other professions e.g., medical, legal,
engineering, etc.

•First, the time frame to become a teacher and a doctor is different. Time frame is very
important when considering whether you want to become a teacher as there are several
different career paths to choose from. At a minimum, you'll need to complete a 4-year
bachelor's degree. You will need to also complete a one-to-two-year master's degree.
•Second, ethical conduct towards whom they serve makes the two professions similar.
We strongly affirm parents as the primary moral educators of their children.
Nevertheless, we believe all educators are obligated to help foster civic virtues such as
integrity, diligence, responsibility, cooperation, loyalty, fidelity, and respect- for the law, for
human life, for others, and for self. The professional educator, in accepting his or her
position of public trust, measures success not only by the progress of each student toward
realization of his or her personal potential, but also as a citizen of the greater community of
the republic.

• Next, the amount of dedication the profession requires is the difference between
teaching and medical profession. A physician shall be dedicated to providing competent
medical care, with compassion and respect for human dignity and rights. If a physician
sees a person who is injured on the street, he can't pass the person and continue his way. But a
teacher does not need to take a little boy who walks on the street to the school because
it's not his/her responsibility to take him to school. The life of a teacher is in the school
community. A great teacher should have the necessary command over the subject
matter her or she teaches.

10. Discuss how to raise the standard of the teaching profession in Malaysia.

- Make your expectations clear

- Make eye contact and address students by name

- Supplement lectures with hands-on activities

- Recognize students’ accomplishments and respond appropriately to their concerns

- Draw connections between the course material and its real-world applications
