MODE

reported by Jennelyn Duran

WHAT IS MODE?
The most commonly occuring value
in a distribution. The mode has an
advantage over the median and
the mean as it can be found for
botth numerical and categorical
data.
EXAMPLE
Consider the age of 11 people with
disability in whole years.

54, 55, 55, 55, 56, 57, 58, 58, 59, 60, 60

Let us find out the frequence of

each number to know what is the most
commonly occuring value.
AGE FREQUENCY
54 1
55 3
56 1
58 2
59 1
60 2
The most commonly occuring
value is 55. Therefore, the mode of
this distribution is 55 years.

Always remember, THE MODE

identifies the category or score
that occurs the most frequently
within the distribution of the data.
The mode is easily seen in the bar
because it is the value with the
highest bar of all.
Sometimes, it is

possible to have

no mode or more

than one mode.
