Brigada Eskwela Kick-Off Program

Once again, it’s B rigada Eskwela. The schools are again buzzing

with activities

after a brief

hiatus from

holding classes

because of the

Dr. Manacap together the BFP personnel and Hon. Lilinda summer
dela Pena during the kick-off of the Brigada Eskwela
vacation.

ICEHS-Santiago

Annex is no exempt from this since every school in the Philippines is

encouraged to participate in the annual National Schools Maintenance

Week popularly known as “Brigada Eskwela”. This is the time of the year

when people from all walks of life work hand-in-hand towards the

attainment of the common goal of getting the school ready for the

opening of classes.

However, here in ICEHS-Santiago Annex every day is Brigada

Eskwela. The school has already started the process of cleaning,

repairing and beautifying the school since the first day our school

principal, Dr. Tito G. Manacap had first set his foot in our campus.

Through his instruction, our TLE teacher, Mr. Manuel Palisbo together

with our property custodian, Patrick Jhon Doplon had started the ocular

inspection way back in October 2018. Since then, our school principal

has been engaged in the task of beautifying and repairing things in our

campus by asking the class advisers to beautify the plant boxes in front

of their classrooms and donating extra chairs to another school to

minimi ze clutter and save extra space. He, then commissioned a painter

to do mural paintings inside the principal’s office and on the façade of

the school building facing the school gate. In addition to that, Dr.

Manacap had also managed to have the stage tiled as well as the posts of

the school’s covered court. He had also spearheaded the conduct of the

pre-brigada during the semestral break.

A week before the Brigada Eskwela, our school principal called for

an emergency meeting despite of the fact that we had already assigned a

committee for each task during the Brigada Eskwela in our meeting last

March. This was because Dr. Manacap wanted to be sure that we deliver

our task efficiently and effectively during the Brigada Eskwela. During

Teachers together with the supporters of Brigada Eskwela

the meeting, every committee was reminded again of its task and the

body arrived into a consensus of creating objectives for the day and

assigning focal persons to do the said tasks. The color coding scheme of

wearing what color of t-shirt each day during the Brigada Eskwela was

also discussed and so was the sponsoring of the teachers of “snacks for

the day.”

So, when May 20, 2019 came which was the kick-off of the Brigada

Eskwela, ICEHS-Santiago was readier than ever before to participate.

During the first day, we held the ceremonial parade as a way also of
recruiting more stakeholders to participate. Since the parade started very

early at exactly 7:30 am to be exact, the participants were composed only

by us, teachers and some students but we were joined later by some

stakeholders like the personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection led by

________, Barangay Captain Felipe P. Villaver, Jr, Barangay Councilor

Lilinda dela Pena, some representatives from Mang Inasal, and of course,

by some parents and students. A short program emceed by Mrs. Nhovy

Ermac then followed. It started with the usual formalities of having an

invocation, singing of the national anthem and Iligan March. Messages

from the dignitaries then followed which was started with a statement of

purpose given by our school principal, Dr. Tito G. Manacap.

Dr. Tito Manacap in his

statement of purpose explained

further to the audience what is

Brigada Eskwela and

encouraged the parents and

stakeholders to participate in it

as a way of showing support to

the study of their children. He

further stressed that the

SFOIII Liguid of BFP-Iligan as he pledges
education of one child is a support of the Brigada Eskwela

shared effort between the

school and the parent.

Meanwhile, Barangay Captain Villaver pledged his support to Brigada

Eskwela by sponsoring the hauling of limestone for backfilling. Hon Dela

Pena, also delivered a message of support to Brigada Eskwela.

After the giving of messages by the guests, the pledge of support by

the different stakeholders were then being done. A closing remarks given
by Mr. Chris Micheal Padla then followed which signaled the start of the

Brigada Eskwela.

The activities that were lined-up during the first day of the Brigada

Eskwela were the following:

1. Cleaning inside the Junior High School campus,

2. Pruning of trees inside and outside the school,

3. Sorting of papers and garbage inside the campus, and

4. Fixing of Garbage disposal facilities.

The day ended with the signing of the Brigada Eskwela slips and

with all of us feeling satisfied with the job well done.
