Process chemical engineer plays vital role in building and filling requirement of society needs

through industrial revolution in modern era. My ambition is to serve community through taking

charge of responsibilities as process chemical engineer. So I decided to schedule an interview

through mobile call with Mr. Maaz from Engro Polymer and Chemicals Limited which was

performing roles and responsibilities of process chemical engineer at production and purification

of ethylene dichloride and vinyl-dichloride purification train unit at the process plant site. I

gathered information before telephonic interview meeting about engro polymer and chemicals

limited plant process and organization core values and most significantly review vital role of

process engineer and question about successful process engineer career goals through google

search engine. During interview he explained and provided guidance about process engineer scope

and position in industries. As process engineer what core facilities that provided by organization

to him and delivered career counselling and direction to me. He also gave guidance about

importance of chemical process engineer in atomic energy plant, steel manufacturing,

bioprocessing sector and oil gas rigs in islands and refineries. He also shared his daily activities of

shift in plant when shift started first delivered mass toolbox talk about daily task performance in

safety margin and limit to workers of plant before starting work. Inspection and monitoring

analysis of process of ethylene dichloride production and purifications and optimization of process

parameters in central control room of plant site and communication of field worker of their unit

area and monitoring safety performance of operator working in field. Safety audit and tours to

improve safety culture in industry by collaboration with core management of plant to reviewing

performance of employees and resolve their issues. Also clear his responsibilities as multi-

functional manager working on field operators at site and off field dealing with human resources

and administration employees which reflect and define his whole shift responsibilities and nature

of job in multi-diversified environment of organization. I asked multiple question about job surety

career of process engineer and what skills and qualification require to become process engineer

and gaining jobs at process industry. He guided me selection criteria of process engineer

qualification is minimum graduation in chemical engineering with chemical engineering software

skills like aspen hysys and chem-cad modelling. Fire Safety courses and training are plus point if

I have which will helpful for securing jobs in process industry. Because with technical degree you

must aware training of safety standards of OSAHA and ISO and handsome knowledge of process

industry and optimization of process. He also inform his job performing difficulties like in 12 hr

shift per day with rotating pattern per week. Engro polymer and chemical limited is largest vinyl

choloro-complex in Pakistan and producing polyvinyl chloride monomer and continues success in

business company expand his plant production capacity from 195 kilo ton per annum to 245 kilo

ton per annum. EPCL plant is subsidiary unit of Engro Groups of Companies and paly vital role

to boost economy of country and have important position in stock exchange market. The reason to

choose interviewee this company was that organization provided incentive and bounces with

income and two days off per week, provide hygienic food, luxury flat room for living, medical life

insurance and travelling expenses in country and foreign country tours. Multi-diversified and

mutual-cooperation growing environment of organization distinguish from other industry

employee life that’s why interviewee choose EPCL plant. Then ask question regarding career of

this job and opportunities creation ratio in this well-growing field. He informed that competition

is exist like other work fields but facilities provide for these position holder employees are good.

Due to industrial revolution in country increased the job opportunities also increased. If you purse

your career in process chemical engineering flied you chances to grow are higher than other

department’s employee in industry. The job is stable and well-growing field and producing more

vacancies for fresh skilled person. Through my point of view I searched through different website

about process chemical engineer scope and importance for solving society issues by manufacturing

human usable products in process plant. The positives aspect of this career scope and interest

related job is helpful to fulfil needs of society and well-demanding in industrial revolution age.

Negative aspect of shift rotating pattern in industry and chronic health related issues due to

inhalation of toxic gases at site. I accept and purse my career in this field because it’s according to

my interest. In my research and information gained from website and resource which I examined

that interviewee guiding me the right information about process chemical engineer career in plant

site. Because chemical is major fields in process and oil refine industries and as process engineer

evaluate process parameters of plant site and optimize performance of process to yield maximize

financial business of organization. After three day passed I send thankyou letter for given guidance

about my career which is much helpful for me.
