Descriptive Writing Rubric

This document contains a rubric for evaluating descriptive writing. It has 13 criteria grouped into 5 categories: Prewrite, Rough Draft/Edit & Revise, Content, Drawing/Illustration, and Self Assessment. Descriptive Writing Evaluation Rubric


Directions: Use the following rubric to guide your writing process – before turning in your final product, you
must assess yourself using this rubric. Give yourself a score of 1 - 5 on each of the descriptions. Completion of
the self-assessment earns you 10 points toward your total score.
