Flange Pad Calcs

This document provides calculations for studding outlet flanges as per pressure vessel design standards. It includes: 1) Design conditions such as design pressure, temperature, material properties and allowable stresses. 2) Details of the gasket and flange faces such as type, dimensions, and calculated loading values. 3) Moment calculations including individual moment components and the total moment value. 4) Calculations for required flange thickness for gasket seating and operating conditions. The minimum required thickness is determined to be 22.948mm which is less than the 42mm pad thickness.

Flange thickness Calculation

Thickness Required; Gasket Seating

𝑇𝑔= √(𝑀𝑜′/𝑆𝑓𝑎𝐵 [𝐴+𝐵]/[𝐴−𝐵] 18.757337644

)

Thickness Requied : Operating

𝐹= (𝑃𝐵√(4𝑅^2−𝐵^2 ))/8𝑆𝑓𝑜(𝐴−𝐵)
2.9031438548

𝐽=𝑀𝑜/𝑆𝑓𝑜𝐵 (𝐴+𝐵)/(𝐴−𝐵) 393.37209095

𝑇𝑜=𝐹+ √(𝐹^2+𝐽) 22.948101704

Therefore 42mm thk pad OK
