the mechanical principles
underlying movement, acquire

and sports.

 Body Composition – refers to the amount of
the body’s fat-free mass as compared to the
amount of body fat.
 Flexibility – refers to the ability of the joints
to move through a full range of motion
 Cardiovascular Endurance – is the ability of
the heart, lungs and blood vessels to deliver
oxygen to working muscles and tissues.
HEALTH RELATED FITNESS
 Strength – refers to the muscle’s
ability to generate force against
physical objects.
 Muscular Endurance – is the ability of
the muscles to exert a sub maximal
effort for a prolonged period of time;
performing a strength exercise such
as push-up over a longer period.
SKILL- RELATED FITNESS

refers to the quality of one’s


movement skills

 Balance – the ability of an individual to
maintain equilibrium in relation to changes
in body position
Static Balance – the ability to maintain
equilibrium in a fixed position such as
standing on one foot on a balance beam.
Dynamic Balance – the ability to
maintain one’s equilibrium while the
body is in motion.
SKILL- RELATED FITNESS
 Coordination – is the ability to use the
senses with the body parts to perform
motor tasks smoothly and accurately.
 Agility – is the ability to change
direction quickly using a combination
of balance, coordination, speed,
strength and endurance.
SKILL- RELATED FITNESS
 Speed – is the ability to perform a
movement in a shortest period of
time.
 Power – is the ability to release
maximum force very quickly.
(combination of speed and strength)
EXERCISE
 Is defined as physical activity that is
planned, structured, repetitive and
purposeful for the improvement or
maintenance of one or more components of
physical fitness. It is important not only to
the body but also to sound mental health.
BENEFITS OF EXERCISE
 It makes a person feel better, happier,
friendlier, more decisive and more
productive.
 It helps fight stress.
 Exercise can increase HDL, an important
chemical which removes and eliminates
cholesterol from the body.
 Appetite is easier to control.
BENEFITS OF EXERCISE
 Regularity of the bowel is enhanced.
 Our mind will also be refreshed by
exercise.
 Ithelps the liver, kidneys, lungs and skin
expel impurities from the body by
improving the circulation of blood to these
organs.
 Itreduces the risk of hypertension, heart
attack and stoke.

ISOMETRIC
 an exercise in which your
muscles are tightened for
about five to ten seconds
without any movements of
body parts

ISOTONIC
 an exercise in which
muscle contraction results
to movement; such as
swimming, running,
walking, bicycling and
sports activities.

ISOKINETIC
 an exercise in which a
weight or resistance is
moved throughout an
entire range of motion;
muscles are exposed to
fixed machines with
varying degrees of
resistance.

continuous use of oxygen
over an extended period
of time
