THE ANOINTING

You must learn to be still before God and worship Him. You will experience the anointing. If you are
willing to pay the price, remember you can't out give God, whatever you release and give over to Him,
He will return through the anointing more than you can even imagine.

The truth about the glory of God is that the glory of God is the Person and Presence of God - the Glory is
the Holy Spirit. When you experience His presence the overwhelming realization that God Almighty is so
near, you can almost reach out and touch Him, then you have experienced the glory of God. You feel the
warmth of His love, the comfort of His peace. It is Anointing in a sense, Psalm 8:3-4.

WHAT IS ANOINTING?

Anointing is simply the power of God. It is the enablement to function in the supernatural. It is the word
of God. It is the power that exceeds anything man can generate. It is the power that brought the
Heavens and earth into being. It is a power beyond human reasoning. It is the power of the Holy Ghost;
it is the presence of God. It is the power that created man it is the power that raised Jesus from the
dead, it is the power that will bring Jesus from the right hand of God to earth at the appointed time and
will cause all things to be made new Acts 1:8.

The anointing makes the move of the Holy Spirit sometimes like oil, vapour or angel of the Lord. The
presence of God, the Holy Spirit leads to the anointing of the spirit, which is the power of God and the
power of God brings forth the manifestation of His presence.

The Anointing

The Anointing of the Holy Spirit cannot be seen but the power, its manifestation, its effects, can and
should be seen Acts 1:8-"You shall receive power (Anointing) the spiritual gifts-after the Holy Ghost-
presence, the person, and the fruits- comes upon you". The fruit of the Spirit is connected to the
presence of God while the gifts and the ministry of God are connected to the power of God.

THE MEANING OF ANOINTING

2. To smear oil upon something Exo. 30:26-30.

3. To rub (upon or wear it).

4. To press oil.

5. To consecrate or set apart for definite use.

6.To farthing or fat (condensed oil) Nahum 1:13.

7.Fruitful oil or fruit oil.

8. To oil or grease.

9. Endowment (approval).

We have the anointing that comes from above and the one that comes from within. Ministers of God
function by the unction by gathering the wood of God and pressing it. Endowment is like when the rain
falls. A teacher needs to acquire knowledge and process the knowledge.

Jesus Christ has the anointing without measure which means that it has measure and depends on your
relationship with the Holy Spirit.

TYPES OF ANOINTING

1. LEPER'S ANOINTING - Leviticus 14 teaches us that the leper remained outside the camp and that the
priest was to go out to him/her and apply the blood of the sacrifice, bring him/her into the camp, apply
the blood again and then apply oil, making "atonement for him before the Lord" Every born again
believer has experienced the lepers anointing which deals with salvation.
Leprosy in this case is a type of sin, incurable in the natural world, but curable by God. Sin is the same;
man can do nothing to remove it and effect. In the Old Testament animal blood was used for atonement
while in the New Testament and today, it is the blood of Jesus Christ. The animal blood was a mere
shadow while our Lord Jesus is the Substance.

In the Old Testament, the blood was applied, then the oil. The application of the sacrificial blood is
symbolic of the blood of Christ, while the application of the oil symbolizes the touch and the influence of
the Holy Spirit upon a life. When you experience the grace of Jesus Christ, it is the Holy Spirit who
convicts of sin and assures of God forgiveness. At salvation you experience the first anointing the lepers'
anointing which reveals the power of the blood through the anointing oil that pours over you.

2. PRIESTLY ANOINTING: This is anointing for ministry unto the Lord including leading souls to Him, but
not service in battles against the devil and diseases.

3. DELIVERANCE ANOINTING: This sets captives free.

4. HEALING ANOINTING: Whether the person believes or not, the anointing heals. When you loose your
faith, the anointing will help you.

5. KINGLY/POWER ANOINTING: It lifts you to a place of high authority in God, giving you authority over
devils, the power to rout demons with one word. Only this will give you power to put the enemies of
God to flight as the Apostle Paul did. The Kingly anointing is the most difficult to receive whereas the
leper's anointing comes when you accept Christ and the priestly anointing comes by fellowshipping with
Jesus, kingly anointing comes by obeying Jesus Christ.

Many people want the power of God, but fail to understand that it will not come until they first
experience His presence and when the presence comes, the first evidence will be the manifestation of
the fruit of the spirit. The fruit will be evident in everyday contact with those around you. And when the
fruit is genuinely there, the Lord will anoint you with His Spirit which is power. The presence of God is
the vehicle that brings the power. The presence and the fruit come together.

KINDS OF ANOINTING

1. Oil-Gen. 28:18; 35:14, Mark 6:7-13, James 5:14-16.

2. Compounded Spices - Exo. 30:22-25.

3. Holy Spirit - Ps. 45:7, Isa. 61:1, Lk. 4:18-21, Acts 10:38, Heb. 1:9.
SEVENFOLD ANOINTING

Rev. 3:1, Rev. 5- The Spirit of God is sevenfold, it does not mean that the Spirit of God is seven but it is
the seven eyes, horn, flames, fire and anointing of God meaning the number of Divinity.

ISAIAH 11:1

1. Spirit of the Lord: When you become born-again and baptize in the Holy Ghost and begin to speak in
tongues.

2. Spirit of the fear of the Lord:-It is the spirit of Holiness it will not allow you to dabble into sin (measure
of the nature of God) As you move ahead with God, God begin to remove the Adamic nature in you.

3. Spirit of knowledge.

4. Spirit of quick understanding.

5. Spirit of revelation: -Is to have special insight into the word of God. Ability to see into the word of
God.

6. Spirit of Wisdom and Counsel - To be wise or able to counsel. The Bible says by wisdom the Lord
stretches the heaven and by understanding the earth is established.

7. Spirit of Might - It is the spirit of power that heals, raise the dead etc. Isa. 61:1-2, Lk. 4:18-19.

IMPORTANCE OF THE ANOINTING

Anointing is needed to function as a believer and more in the service of God. Without it no man can
function well or properly. I Samuel 16:11-14:- Immediately David was anointed, the spirit of the Lord
came upon him which shows that the anointing symbolizes the presence of God. Isaiah 10:27 The
anointing is a yoke breaker. The anointing makes the difference in your ministry and your life.

HOW TO RECEIVE THE ANOINTING

1. By fasting and prayer-Matt. 4:1-2, 17:21.

DONT'S OF THE ANOINTING

It doesn't like being rushed

Anointing glorifies Jesus hence; He wants you to do the same. Anointing is heavy, the higher it is the
burdensome it becomes. It is not only anointing that brings miracles, you can as well use

Every mission has its own anointing. What is important is that you must serve the lord with all that God
gave and has given you.

ANOINTING OIL

There have been programmes, special services on the use of the anointing oil, and lots of testimonies
from the use of the anointing oil. We need to understand the mystery of the anointing oil. The anointing
oil is simply the oil that carries the power of God, the power of the Holy Ghost and the presence of God.
The cork and the bottle of the oil cannot stop or hold the power of God from entering it.

THE FUNCTIONS OF THE ANOINTING OIL

1. It is for sanctification - Lev. 8:10-12.

2.As a sign of consecration - Exo. 28:41; 29:7; 30:30, 1Sam. 9:16, 1 Kings 1:34.

3. It is for healing-Mark 6:13, James 5:14.

4. It is a yoke breaker - Isaiah 10:27.

5. It is for favour - Psalm 23:5.

6. It is for enthronement

7. It is for ordination.

8. It is for divine release.

9. It is for impartation of power.

What is Evangelism?

Evangelism can simply be described as all the activities involved in conveying the redemption

plan of God for the fallen man.

John 3:16 states that for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that

whomsoever believes in Him should not perish but have ever lasting life. The natural man is

bound to perish because he has the tendency to commit sin. The wages of sin is death but God

has a gift of redemption – Eternal through JESUS CHRIST. All efforts to make the truth of the

redemption plan for humanity is Evangelism.

Evangelism is creating the awareness of the readiness of God to save man from the

punishment/consequences of sin. It is how God determined to keep man above the tricks of

satan.

An effective evangelism requires more than the efforts of the use of intellect, internet and

sophisticated gadgets. Rather, the anointing is highly needed.

What is Anointing?
Luke 4:18 – 19, 21 JESUS CHRIST Himself read; The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because he has

anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor, He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to

proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who

are oppressed. To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord (Luke 4:18-19; Isaiah 61:1-2).

And He began to say to them, today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.

If Jesus Christ in His earthly ministry would properly prepare ahead by fasting, praying and also

being tempted by the devil yet, He had to declare that the SPIRIT of the Lord is upon Him to ……

therefore, without any doubt every work of God including Evangelism requires the Anointing

far beyond the best of intellect, internet and sophisticated gadgets.

The Anointing simply is the outpour/outflow of the HOLY SPIRIT upon a human vessel to carry

out a God given assignment successfully. The success of every God given assignment grossly

depends on the Anointing.

Anointing can also be described as the heavenly backing or a divine marching order to go on

and achieve the desire of God in human affairs. To carry out any God given mandate, the

underlying factor to succeed is the Anointing.

Thirdly, the Anointing is also is also God’s oil/approval on the path of carrying out a divine plan.

The importance of the Anointing can never be over emphasized as Acts 10:38 puts; how God

anointed JESUS CHRIST with HOLY GHOST and with power who went about doing good….

JESUS CHRIST also counselled His Apostle, in Luke 22:49 Behold, I send the promise of my Falker

upon you but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endured with power from on high

The Anointing is the Power / access of GOD from high, this is higher than any academic

qualification, civilization, etc. Besides all the teachings (mentorship / experience the apostles
gathered directly under the companionship of JESUS CHRIST, He gave them the orders to tarry

till they're endued with power from on high. The Power from on high is the anointing
