PURPOSE The purpose of this Method Statement is to outline the sequences and the methods of worked intended to be used for the chipping of the concrete slab floor openings for the riser ducts. 2. SCOPE OF WORKS The scope of works comprises: - Chipping of the concrete slab floor openings for the riser duets. - Installation and dismantling of debris collecting scaffolds under the bays. 3. REFERENCES a. Key Plan Drawings b. Project Specification . Quality Assurance Manual. d. Health, Safety and Environmental Manual. 4, DEFINITIONS a. PIC Project in Charge b. Engineers Project Engineer, Site Engineer and QA/QC Engineer. AFC Approved Drawings issued from the client for Construction. d. RED MARKED Red-marked Drawings/Rediined drawings are the official contract drawings that have changes / mark up during construction to show as-built e. Contractor A contractor is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the construction site and management of vendors and trade. h, Sub-Contractor A subcontractor is an individual or in many cases a business that signs a contract, to perform part or all the obligations of another contract. i PTW Permit to work. 5. RESPONSIBILITIES a. Project Manager ‘* Overall in-charge of the project and reports to the General Manager. b. Site Manager ‘+ Leads all construction activities and enforces strict adherence to all project requirements. Report to the Project Manager. c. Engineers ‘+ Ensure that alll related works are carried out in accordance with the approved drawings, specifications, schedule, quality and safely. Report to Site Manager. d. QC Engineer © Ensure that alll related works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, schedule, quality and safety. © Conduct inspection on all site work installation / testing including Factory requirements / concern on site. Function administratively under Site Manager but report directly to QA / QC Department Head e. Technicians ‘+ Ensure that all testing required as specified in project specifications and contractual obligations are properly executed in compliance with quality, safety and standard requirements. Report to Engineers 6. PROCEDURE 6.1 Preparations. 1. Check false floor openings, GIS building and existing GIS control panel to ensure safety, workability and environmental requirement. 2. Review GIS drawings and project specifications. 3. Installation of wooden catwalks over the cable located between the access door and the work area. 4. Deliver of scaffolding to site and off-loading. 5. Installation of scaffolding in GIS building basement. 6. Protect existing panels from dust by installing a make shift nylon cover enclosure to cover the false opening during the chipping process. 6.4 Installation Activities * Obtain work permit ‘= Identify the work to be done * Brief the personnel engaged in the acti * Secure the area with Caution tape «Ensure that the safety engineer's approval of the cordoned ’s prior to start 1. Installation of scaffoldings. a. Obtain Permit to Work b, Before the work commences, worked area will by the authority to ensure that safe conditions and environment exist for the work. Have a tool box meeting to review all method statements and safely measures with the working team. ©. All scaffolding installation shalll check per standards d. The area will be cordoned off to exclude unauthorized entry. @. Only teams suited to work in this environment will be allowed to undertake this task. f. All access will be via ladder which must be securely tied. At no time personnel climb the outside of the scaffold structure. 4g. All materials will be stored at the work place in an orderly and safe manner. h. Only tools especially designed for the purposed of installing and dismantling of scaffolds will be used, regular check will be made. i. Only quality materials will be used, any materials found to be damage or in poor condition must be placed aside for collection and removal. j. Where the scaffold cannot be completes in one operation, immediately after commencement of the installation, a priority inspection tag will be place at each point access displaying the words "DO NOT USE SCAFFOLD" k. On completion any surplus materials must be stacked in an orderly and safe manner to be collected immediately. |. Install nylon containments on the scaffold to collect debris and dust emission arising from the cutting operation above. (Dust must be contained). 2. Chipping of Concrete Slab Floor Openings. Obtain work permit. Ensure the instruction in the PTW are correct. Have a tool box meeting to review all method statements and safely measures with the working team. Prepare all materials needed for the works. Only competent personnel are allowed to perform the works. Before the work commences, worked area will by the authority to ensure that safe conditions and environment exist for the works. {. Mark the position of the designated work area. 4g. Ensure that the marked designated area is approved by the authority h, Start the work to manually chip the false floor opening by using electric portable drill machine. i. Collect the debris and dust in appropriate nylon containments in the basement on the scaffolding. j. Ensure complete opening is restored and debris removed. vo pao 3. All works related will be executed in accordance with the Client and ABDEL CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION Health Safety and Safety Plan, The work will only proceed when Permit To Work (PTW) has been issued, The PTW will be kept on display on site during the works. Special Attention will be given to: + Cordoning off specified working area and provision of applicable Safety waming sign boards.
