Students have a seven-year time limit to complete all requirements for the Ph.D. The time limit does not stop with a Leave of Absence. A
student whose Ph.D. time limit has expired is regarded by the Graduate School as automatically terminated from the program unless the
department submits an appropriately justified request for a time extension and the Graduate School approves that request.

90 graduate credits beyond the baccalaureate degree are required — 60 in coursework and 30 in dissertation research and preparation.
Transferred credits may not be used to reduce the minimum requirement of 30 credits of coursework, excluding dissertation, that must be
earned at WSU.
