Where Geeta Leads you to Glory

HARI OM!
We think we speak for everyone when we say that the last 2 years have been the
most boring, stagnant years of our lives. Most of us have forgotten what it felt
like to even wake up in the morning with a sense of purpose!
Time to pull the Uno-reverse card on our own lives, what do you say??
Remember the good old days when we went to inter school competitions and had
the time of our lives? Now they're back! With a thrilling and challenging twist!
In an unprecedented manner, an inter-school competition will be conducted with a
theme that has roots deep in our culture - KURUKSHETRA 2021, a cultural
extravaganza that will revolve around the theme: the Bhagavad Geeta: organized by
Chinmaya Geeta Chanting Competition Chennai(GCC) and Chinmaya YuvaKendra Chennai.
For the first time ever, a colossal event that will present a fusion of history,
culture and entertainment in an exciting array of events like never seen before, is
about to happen.
Where? Namma own Chennai.
Hundreds of students all across the city are about to join hands and create history.
And YOU CAN BE A PART OF IT!
This is the ticket we give you to shake off the slumber and don your skills and
creativity. See you on the battlefield.
GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
● The event is open for the students of class 11 & 12, whose schools are located in
Chennai and its suburbs.

● The following events will be conducted in 3 levels - a preliminary round (prelims), a


semi-final, and a grand finale, in a span of 2 months: Krishna’s Gospel (Elocution -
English), Pechu Pecha Irukatum (Elocution - Tamizh) and Viveka Choodamani (Block and
Tackle).

● Other events: Rapped in Devotion (Rap singing), Mind your Own Design (Poster Designing)
and Parables (Short Film making) will require a only single photo/audio/video submission.

● The prelims will be held after registrations, tentatively in the month of August and
September, followed by the semi-final in September and the finals in October. The
allotted dates will be intimated personally after registration updated in our social
media handles.

● All the events will be conducted online.


● Each student is allowed to participate in a maximum of 3 events.

● Profanity is not permissible. Vulgarity of any form will lead to


disqualification.

● Discipline and decorum should be maintained.

● Government protocols are to be followed during all the events.

● The judges’ decision is final.

● Participants should log in 10 mins before the scheduled time of the event.

● Participants should inculcate the theme (The Holy scripture, the Bhagavad
Geeta) in every event they take part in.

● Students should ensure that they have a proper background, a functioning


webcam and a mic with proper network connectivity for all the events.
The participants will not be given a second chance.

● Breaking of any rules will lead to disqualification.


RULES FOR REGISTRATION
● The event is open for the students of class 11 & 12, whose schools are located in
Chennai and its suburbs.

● Participants who do not fall in the above category will be eliminated.

● The last date for registration is 20th August 2021.

● After registration, the students will be contacted individually via email/WhatsApp


regarding the details about the date of the prelims and the topics of their
respective events. the timings and the link for participation will also be sent via
Email/WhatsApp.

● Please follow the Instagram and Facebook pages of the event, where the updates
would be posted.

(ELECUTION-ENGLISH)

Have you ever stood in front of a mirror and imagined giving an interview or
a speech that captured everyone’s attention? This event is for you, orators!
The audience is waiting to listen to your speechcraft, the stage is set, and the
mic is in your hands: spin the silver tongue loose and weave a tapestry of
words that will echo for all time! Krishna’s address has stood the test of
time, now it’s your voice for the win.
RULES OF PARTICIPATION:
•It is an individual event.

•Time limit: 4 minutes. Strict adherence to the time limit is expected.

•The topics will be informed via email/WhatsApp after registration.

•The event will be conducted live.

•The event will be held in 3 stages - prelims. semi-final and the finale.

•Participants are encouraged to take inspiration from the concepts of


the Bhagavad Geeta / any other Hindu spiritual texts.
(ELOCUTION – TAMIZH)

Nam Tamizh pechargale! This is your chance to run the show, with
the virtues of the Geeta on one hand and the beauty of Tamizh on
the other hand. Seize the Sudarshana chakra and the chariot to let
out your bottled up thoughts as enthralling speeches full of passion
and wit!
RULES OF PARTICIPATION:
•It is an individual event.

•Time limit: 4 minutes. Strict adherence to the time limit is expected.

•The topics will be informed via email/WhatsApp after registration.

•The event will be conducted live.

•The event will be held in 3 stages - prelims. semi-final and the finale.

•Participants are encouraged to take inspiration from the concepts of


the Bhagavad Geeta / any other Hindu spiritual texts.
( RAP SINGING)

We present to you the best ‘East + West’ blend: Rap based on The
Bhagavad Geeta! The mic and spotlight are yours. Get ready to
reverberate to the BTK’s and RISE YOURSELF UP to become the rap god!
RULES OF PARTICIPATION:
•1 or 2 participants are allowed per team.

•Time Duration: 3 minutes per team.

•Participants will have to submit an audio OR a video clip of their


performance.

•The topics will be informed via email/WhatsApp after registration.

•A team can either consist of a rapper and a beat boxer or a duo


performing over a produced trap beat (using suitable software).

•Plagiarism will not be encouraged.


The submissions will be considered final. There will be no 3-round selection.
Participants must emphasize the overall theme of the event (The
Bhagavad Geeta) in their performance.
(POSTER DESIGNING)

One may assume wrong, but creativity needs just as much courage as it
takes to fight in a battle. In a world filled with harsh criticisms and
adversity, deciding to show your deepest self in the shape of your art is
no small feat. Taking the Geeta as your inspiration, choose your weapon
and start designing towards victory.
RULES OF PARTICIPATION:
•It is an individual event.

•Size of paper to be used - A4

•There are no restrictions in colours and mediums to be used.

•The topics will be informed via email/WhatsApp after registration.

•Digital art is strictly PROHIBITED.

•The submissions will be considered final. There will be no 3-round selection.


•The theme of the event (The Bhagavad Geeta) should be reflected in the
poster designed.
(BLOCK AND TACKLE)

On this stage, the phrase “You are your own competition” isn’t just a
motivational quote – it is quite literally the reality. Gear up, and
enter into a verbal battle with yourself, switching alliances
spontaneously and fighting to win mastery for both sides. Will you be
able to keep up with yourself?
RULES OF PARTICIPATION:
•It is an individual event.

•The event will be conducted live.

•The event will be held in 3 stages - prelims. semi-final and the


finale.

•Participants are required to switch between for and against


arguments of the topic as per the judge's command.

•The topics will be provided on the spot.

•Participants must present their argument considering the overall


theme of the event (The Bhagavad Geeta).
(SHORT FILM MAKING)

Bored of binge – watching? Wanna do something productive?


This is your chance to flex your creative muscles to produce an
inspiring short film on the values given by the celestial teacher
to the deluded student. Learn, Film, Watch and Grow through
The Bhagavad Geeta.
RULES OF PARTICIPATION:
•Do not violate the Covid protocols issued by the
government and minimize travelling.
•Participant limit: 5-7 students (including both the on-screen and off-screen
participants). The film should have a minimum of one participant (actor) on-screen.
•Time limit: 5-7 minutes.
•Language: English.
•The topics will be informed via email/WhatsApp after registration.

•Copyrights of the participants' work will be preserved.


•Plagiarism will not be encouraged.
•The submissions will be considered final. there will be no 3-round selection.
•The plot must revolve around the given topic (based on The Bhagavad Geeta).
