Icct Demo Belemed - Base

This semi-detailed lesson plan outlines a science lesson on the three states of matter for third grade students. The learning objectives are for students to identify, recognize, differentiate, value and sort objects based on whether they are solid, liquid or gas. The lesson activities include singing, classifying pictures of objects, discussing the key properties of each state of matter, and grouping students to complete tasks related to solids, liquids and gases. The lesson aims to teach students the basic concepts and properties of the three states of matter.

SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 3

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the learners should be able to:

A. Identify the Three States of Matter by showing various pictures of different objects.
B. Recognize the Three States of Matter by classifying the objects according to their
categories.
C. Differentiate the Three State of Matter by showing an examples of each.
D. Value the aspects of the Three States of Matter by citing examples of the importance
of each in our daily life.
E. Sort objects whether they are solid, liquid or gas by performing the task assign for
each group.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Topic: Human Beings
B. References: Smart Start in Science II
C. Materials: Pictures of Five Senses, Laptop, Visual Aids, Projector and Chart
D. Values Integration: Cooperation

III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY
 Prayer
 Greetings
 Classroom management
 Classroom Rules and Regulation
 Checking of attendance
 Review of the past lessons

B. MOTIVATION
The teacher will play and ask the pupils to sing an energizer song title “The Three
States of Matter” in the tune of the nursery rhyme “The Wheels on the Bus”.
C. ENABLING ACTIVITIES
1. ACTIVITY
The teacher will provide various pictures of objects and let it rotate around the
class while singing a song and when the song stops, the pupils who are holding
the pictures will post it on the board. After posting the pictures, the teacher will
ask pupils some questions about the pictures.
Questions:
 What is the name of that objects?
 What did you observe about the photos?
 Is this object soft, hard, watery in texture, or air type?

2. ANALYSIS
The teacher will post the word solid, liquid and gas on the board and ask the
pupils to classify the objects according to the categories.

Guide questions:
1. What can you say about our activity?
2. What do you think is our lesson for today?

3. ABSTRACTION
First State of Matter: SOLIDS

o A solid retains a fixed volume and shape, not easily compressible and
does not flow.

o A solid has these three main properties:

1. A solid has a definite shape.
2. A solid has a definite mass.
3. A solid has a definite volume.

o A solid will always look the same and take up the same amount of
space. Example: table, apple or a car.

Second State of Matter: LIQUID

A liquid assumes the shape of the part of the container which it occupies,
not easily compressible and flows easily.

A liquid has these three main properties:

1. A liquid does not have a definite shape.

2. A liquid has a definite mass.
3. A liquid has a definite volume.
A liquid will always take up the same amount of space and take the shape
of its container. Example: juices, milk or water.

Third State of Matter: GAS

A gas assumes the shape and volume of its container, compressible and
flows easily.

A gas has these three main properties:

1. A gas does not have a definite shape.

2. A gas does not have a definite shape.
3. A gas does not have a definite volume.

A gas does not always weigh the same or take up the same amount of
space. However, like a liquid, a gas will always take the shape of its
container, no matter the size or shape of that container. Example: helium
in a balloon, oxygen in the air or air in a jar.

4. GENERALIZATION
The teacher will do a game titled “Takbo lang sa Tamang Sagot”. This game is inspired
by the games in Wowowin, where Kuya Wil asks a question and the people will run to
the answer they choose.
Directions: The teacher will ask questions that is related to the lesson. The pupils have
two choices ( True and False ). After asking a question the teacher will count from one
to three and the pupils will fall in line to the answer they choose.

Teacher’s Questions:
1. Matter is anything that has weight and takes up space.
2. Everything you can see and touch is made up of matter.
3. Matter exists in two main forms: liquids, and gases only.
4. Everything present in the universe is made of matter. Even we, the human beings,
are made of matter.
5. The food that we eat everyday are not kind of matter and we can survive without it.
6. The clothes that we wear, all the necessary things like pencil, brush, utensils all are
made of matter.

Correct Answers:
1. True
2. True
3. False; Matter exists in three main forms: solids, liquids, and gases.
4. True
5. False; The food that we eat everyday are also a kind of matter without it we cannot
survive.
6. True

5. APPLICATION
The teacher will divide the class into 4 groups. Each group will have different task and they
will be given 5 minutes to finish it.

ACTIVITY RUBRICS

RUBRICS IN PARTICIPATION PERCENT

Orderliness 30%

Teamwork 30%

Time management 40%

TOTAL 100%

Group 1 – Cut out the given pictures provided by the teacher and sort it into categories solid,
liquid or gas. Post it on the board and present it in front of the class.

Group 2 – Write down at least 5 examples of each matter solid, liquid and gas on the given paper
and present it in front of the class.
Group 3 – Find 10 things or objects inside the room and write down the name, then, classify it as
solid, liquid or gas by presenting it in front of the class.

Group 4 - Color the given pictures of different objects according to their classifications: red for
solid, green for liquid and gray for gas. Post it on the board and show it in the class.
