Deraco, ASA New Technologies To Public Health

This document provides information on new technologies related to public health in the Philippines. It lists several key government sites that utilize databases and information systems, including the Philippine Health Information Exchange (PHIE) and Field Health Service Information System (FHSIS). Private health systems are also discussed, such as the Master Patient Index (MPI) used to identify patients across healthcare facilities and telehealth technologies that enable remote care. Laboratory information systems that process and store test data from all stages of medical testing are also outlined.

MODULE THREE E: RECORDS IN FAMILY HEALTH NURSING PRACTICE
Make a list of new technologies related to Public Health

A. Government Sites (examples of the public registration and information system)

1. Philippine Health Information Exchange (PHIE)
- In the interest of public health, the PHIE is a platform for safe electronic access and
efficient exchange of health data and/or information across health institutions, health
care providers, health information organizations, and government agencies.

2. Database Management System (DBMS)
- DBMS are software systems for storing, retrieving, and running data queries. Users and
other programs can manipulate and extract data using DBMSs, which manage the data,
the database engine, and the database schema.

3. Field Health Service Information System (FHSIS)
- FHSIS is a government-run system that produces a DOH annual health report to aid
decision-making in the Philippines' health-care system. The collecting procedure
necessitates the enhancement of indicators, as well as analyzation and collaboration, in
order to ensure the report's quality and correctness. Further research into the health-
care system should include how data is obtained from the commercial sector.

4. Geographic Information System (GIS)

- GIS is a computer system that captures, stores, checks, and displays data on Earth's
surface positions. GIS can help individuals and organizations better understand
geographical patterns and relationships by connecting seemingly unconnected data.

B. Nursing and Health Care Sites (examples of the private registration and information system)

1. Master Patient Index (MPI)
- MPI provides the medical record or identification number associated with the name, as
well as enough demographic information to quickly identify a patient and his or her
medical record. If the MPI services multiple healthcare facilities, the index should also
include the facility where the admission or encounter took place.

2. Telehealth
- is the use of communication technologies to deliver health care to people who live far
away. Computers, cameras, videoconferencing, the Internet, and satellite and wireless
communications are examples of these technology. Telehealth is a term that refers to
the use of technology to improve one's health. A phone call or video chat with a health
care practitioner is referred to as a "virtual visit."

3. Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Data from all stages of medical processes and testing is processed, stored, and managed
by computer software. Laboratory information systems are used by physicians and lab
personnel to organize a wide range of inpatient and outpatient medical testing,
including hematology, chemistry, immunology, and microbiology. Patient check-in,
order entry, specimen processing, result entry, and patient demographics are all
frequent components of basic laboratory information systems.
