A. Comparatives and superlatives


I. Comparatives (so sánh hơn với 2 người, 2 vật)
1) So sánh nhiều hơn
a) Adj/Adv :

S1 +V1 + short adj/adv + _er + than + S 2 (+ V2)

more + adj/adv

Eg : Country life is simpler than city life (is).


b) Noun :
S1 + V1 + more + N + than + S2 (+V2)
Eg: I have more reference books than she does.
2) So sánh ít hơn
a) Adj/Adv :
S1 + V1 + less + adj/adv + than + S2 (+V2)
Eg: This picture is less valuable than that one.

b) Noun:
S1 + V1 + fewer + N + than + S2 (+ V2)
Less
Eg: There were fewer interesting programs on TV than these days.
II. Superlatives ( so sánh nhất từ 3 người, 3 vật trở lên)
1) So sánh hơn nhất
a) Adj/Adv:
S + V + the + adj/adv + _est
Longest adj/adv
Eg: Nile river is the longest in the world.

b) Noun:
S + V + the most + N
Eg: She has the most comic book in our group.
2) So sánh ít nhất
a) Adj/Adv:
S + V + the fewest + countable noun
The least + uncountable noun
Eg: Lan has the fewest reference book in our group.

B. Equality
 Form : as…….as
 Tính từ, trạng từ:
(+) S1 + V1 + as + adj/adv + as + S2 (+ V2)
(-) S1 + not + V1 + so/as + adj/adv + as + S2 (+V2)

Eg: She is as hard working as her mother (is)


 Danh từ:
S1 + V1 + as + much /little + uncountable noun + as + S2 (+V2)
Many/few + countable noun
 NOTE : 1 số hình thức khác:
- The same : Our dictionary are the same
- The same + N : She and I live in the same street
- The same + N + as : Are you shoes the same size as mine?
- The same + as : My dictionary is the same as yours.
- Alike/ like/ similar to
Eg: Your parents’opinion is similar to mine’s ( my parents’opinion)
Like
Our parents’opinion is alike.
