1. How can you awaken your desire to serve your neighbors with honesty and kindness?
2. In what way can you participate in the Church's mission to the lost, last, and the least of
your neighbors?
3. In what way do you recognize the face of God in those who are affected by the pandemic and
other related calamities?
To awaken my desire to serve my neighbors, I will expose myself and remain intimate in
understanding the Word of God. I have to be guided by the teachings in the Bible. In my personal
experience, I condition my heart to be at peace when I meditate on the Word. As stated in
Proverbs 4:23, "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." How can I be
the ideal neighbor if my heart is not in the proper condition? I believe that servant leadership is
integral in the Church's mission because it is how Jesus Christ showed who he is to humanity.
Despite that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the King of Kings, he is the perfect role model of
humility. He can do miracles, but he did wash the disciples' feet. Just by imagining the powerful
President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, doing that to me will make me uncomfortable. I will say that I
am a follower of Jesus, and I believe that servant leadership is not an option; servant leadership
is a mandate to serve the lost, last, and the least of my neighbor by being generous in any way my
heart can give. One way is by sharing our stable internet connection for free or updating them
about what they missed. I see this as a great solution to the problem in my community because
there are still those who rely on mobile data connection that is unstable and very dependent on
the signal received by the device. I can also send an encouraging message in my circle of
influence. This act can go beyond; if I made them feel that they are not alone and there is still
someone out there looking out for them, they would be fine. Doing this requires my time and
attention, and I will be humble enough to use it for others to feel better. For those who are
affected by the pandemic and other related calamities, I recognize the face of God in them
because I had a growing idea about who He is. I see God working in them as they rely on each
other's support, which acted naturally. It is from the victims' persistence to survive and the
manifestation of hope that the situation will pass and everything will be well again. It is that I
know who God is that I recognize His presence from others.
