For this assignment you will be creating an opening and closing duties checklist for the position
you have been using in previous assignments (Job Positng). This check list should cover all
aspects of what it would take for someone who is going to prepare themselves and their station to
begin work. It should include everything that they will need at their work station as well as if
there is a list of tasks they will need to perform before “opening.” The closing list is very
similar. Consider everything that would need to be done in order to close for the night and lock
the doors as it pertains to that job. Ex. Does the garbage need to be taken out or do the ice bins
need to be drained for the evening?
Your list should be a completed form that could be ready to go into circulation. I would advise
using an excel spreadsheet or inserting usable tables with columns that allow you to check off a
completed task. Remember to leave room for initials and the date as well as a spot for the
manager to sign off on. Build your sheet so that it is all visible on one side of one piece of paper.
You may need to create two columns to fit all of the tasks.
 Create an Opening Checklist
 Create a Closing Checklist
 Your lists should be complete and cover all necessary tasks and items need to open or
close
 Complete your lists using excel or a format that allows for grids to be used and boxes for
checking
 Each check list should be limited to one side of one piece of paper
 Allow for room for initialing, dating, and a managers initials
 Each checklist must have a minimum of 25 tasks or items to complete
If you take your time to fully complete this assignment, you will have a tool you can use the
rest of your career.
