1 Scope
This specification defines the mandatory requirements for a non-site fabricated skid
assembly containing all necessary equipment to power and control a single Electrical
Submersible Pump (ESP) in crude oil service. The skid shall be installed outdoors in
an offshore or onshore environment.
2.1 If there are any conflicts between this specification and associated purchasing,
project or engineering documents, this specification shall take precedence.
2.2 Direct all requests to deviate from this specification in writing to the Company
or Buyer Representative, who shall follow internal company waiver procedure.

4 Definitions
Crude Oil Service: Directly producing crude oil or producing water in support of
crude oil production.
Offshore: Overwater.
Onshore: On-land.
Specification: The main body of this document. Does not include the information
contained within the Appendices.
Stainless steel: Either 316 series or 317 series stainless steel material.

5.3 This specification shall take precedence over any referenced third party
document.
5.6 The specific location(s) and environment in which the skids will be installed
shall be specified within the purchasing documents.
6 Service Conditions
The skids shall be designed for the same service conditions as the controllers mounted
on the skids.
7 Construction Features
7.1 Skid
7.1.1 Steel design shall be in accordance with the AISC, “Manual of Steel
Construction” requirements.

7.1.8 For onshore installations, a gable canopy shall be provided over the
skid. The canopy shall have the following characteristics:
7.1.9 Shall include integral drip tray(s) with a capacity of 1.5 times the volume
of the transformer oil contained in the transformer(s) mounted on the
skid. If a severely corrosive environment, drip tray material shall be
stainless steel.

7.4.4 All wiring outside of the enclosures on the skid shall be minimum 600 V
rated, 2.5 sq mm (14 AWG) stranded copper, installed in raceways or
cable trays.
7.4.5 All control and accessory wiring shall be identified with a slip-on
thermoplastic wire marker with permanently printed characters. Snap-on
and adhesive type markers are prohibited.
7.4.7.5 Shall be sized for termination of 5kV rated armored cable and
stress cone terminations.

7.5.3 Where dissimilar metals are in contact, the contact points shall be
suitably protected to prevent corrosion due to galvanic action.
